Notes: - #sc (eg. 2sc, 3sc, etc) shows the number of scs to be completed in the indicated st
- I highly recommend using a stitch marker to help keep track of the rounds for the
body/head
- All rounds will be continuous (unless otherwise stated).
- When changing colours end off previous colour unless noted otherwise.
- Rows stating BLO at the beginning of the round will help to sew the piece in place.
Head: The head is worked from the snout to back of head, in continuous rounds.
Locate st marker to show the centre of the face, and approx Round 3 of the
head (snout). Create small vertical nostrils by inserting the needle
repetitively though the same set of holes.
Ss in the next st, flatten and sc the two sides together. End off leaving a 12”
tail for sewing
On one side of the ear, pinch above and below round 9. Tack that spot
together. Repeat with the second ear on the opposite side.
Eyes: (make 2) Eyes are made in continuous rounds. See video tutorial in Special Sts section for help
with the eyelid (Row 4 and Round 5).
Using Black create a magic ring.
Round 1: In ring, 2sc, 2dc, 2sc, 2dc (8)
Round 2: Change to White, 2sc, (sc, hdc)
in the next st, *3dc* twice,
(hdc, sc) in the next st, *2sc* 3
times (18)
End off, leaving short tail for
optional fleck.
Round 3 (optional): (Shown in Pink for clarity).
Using Black Yarn Surface crochet through the base of the white sts.
End off, weave in ends.
Round 5: Sc in the st you originally attached the pink yarn to (you will now be working
counterclockwise) around the eye. *2sc, sc* 5 times, sc in the st you ss into for round
4, working through the front and back portions of the eye (pink and white), *2sc, sc* 3
times. Join to the first sc (26).
End off, leaving a 12” tail for sewing.
Using an 18” piece of Pixie Pink, thread the yarn needle.
Insert the needle in through the centre of the first round (magic ring), and out between the sts where the
colour change occurred. Repeat 6-8 times through the same set of holes tugging firmly each time (don’t pull
too hard of the yarn will break).
Tie off and weave in ends.
Using Baby Pink and Size 10mm (N) hook, Ch 28
(do not join, you will be working up 1 side of the chain and
then back down the other to create a continuous oval)
Do not stuff. End off leaving a 6” tail for sewing.
Using Pixie Pink, Ch4, join to the first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 3trc in the ring, ch3, ss in the ring, ch3, 3trc in the ring, ch3, ss in the ring. (6trc)
End off leaving a 24” tail. With a trio of trc’s on each side, wrap the long tail around the middle of the bow
approx 15 times, tie off at the back leaving a 6” tail to sew to the head.
Wings (make 2, optional): Worked in Rows, the wings are both made the same until you reach the finishing
instructions. There is a video link in the Special Sts/Techniques section near the
beginning of the pattern if you are new to extending rows with fsc (foundation single
crochet) stitches.

Ears:
Place the ears about 3 rounds behind the top of the eyes
and approx 4-5 sts apart. Sew down the base (where
the 2 sides of the ear were crocheted together) of the ear
working along the round of the head from the centre,
towards the outside. When you reach the end of the
base sew down the edge of the last 3 rounds.
Bow:
If using a bow, place it at the base at the inner edge of
the ear.
To attach the head to the body, centre the head and attach
the bottom just below the seam of the body ( far side of
round 1) up to approx. round 7 of the body (using the front
loop of the sts left from round 28 of the head as a guideline
to sew to the body)
Note: make sure the hoof is pointed up (split pointing up)
for the front two legs and down for the back (split
pointing down) for the back two legs.
Tail:
.
Wings:
Place on the back of the body, centred behind the head.
Place with the wing tips facing away from the centre of
the body.
