RESOLUTION INSTITUTING A COMPREHENSIVE POLICY ON PROPER GARBAGE

DISPOSAL IN BARANGAY AGLAYAN, MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON

WHEREAS, Section 4 of Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise known as the "Ecological Solid
Waste Management Act of 2000", mandates the establishment of a comprehensive and ecological
solid waste management program;

WHEREAS, it is the policy of Barangay Aglayan to promote a clean and healthy environment
for its residents;

WHEREAS, there is a need to institute a comprehensive policy to address proper garbage

disposal within the barangay;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SANGGUNIANG BARANGAY OF

BARANGAY AGLAYAN, MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON, in regular session assembled:

Section 1. Segregation of Waste. All households and establishments within Barangay Aglayan are
mandated to segregate their waste into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable
materials.

Section 2. Schedule of Collection. The barangay shall designate specific collection days for
biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable waste.

Section 3. Prohibition. The following acts are hereby prohibited:

Littering in public places;
Open burning of garbage;
Dumping of waste in canals or waterways; and
Failure to segregate waste.

Section 4. Penalties. Violators of this Resolution shall be penalized with a fine of ₱1000.00 for the
first offense, ₱2000.00 for the second offense, and ₱3000.00 for the third offense, with the
possibility of community service in lieu of the fine.

Section 5. Information and Education Campaign. The barangay shall conduct an information and
education campaign to raise awareness on proper garbage disposal practices.

Section 6. Implementing Rules. The Barangay Captain shall issue the necessary implementing rules
and regulations to effectively carry out the provisions of this Resolution.

Section 7. Effectivity. This Resolution shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication,
posting in three (3) conspicuous places within the barangay, and furnishing a copy to the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
