Tell me about yourself.

Well! Thank you for giving me this wonderful interview opportunity. I am Shankhaneel Basak and am a
current final year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate with a CGPA of 9.5. . During my course of
engineering, I have been involved in designing mechanical system like designing a low cost ventilator for
emergency application and a robotic arm for industrial operation. Taking up challenges and bringing a
change in the society is what I aspire to do. Data in today’s world is the single-most powerful tool that
will have on our day to day lives and future. I want to associate myself with an organization that is at the
forefront of this change. During my course of internship at NTU Singapore, I had the opportunity to
develop solutions based on existing data in tidal energy sector that helped getting insights on the
mechanisms and how to do’s which eventually led me to design solutions with a potential to impact
millions of lives. Knowing the power of data, I’ve started learning Python and SQL for the past couple of
months. Being a curiosity driven learner and team player, I find myself in a position to add value to this
industry and organization with my abilities.

I’ve a passion to learn new things and work towards something that creates a difference in the industry
and then society. Understanding the basics and quickly adapting to changes are my strengths which
make me a valuable asset to the organization. During my course of limited internship experience, I’ve
demonstrated the capability to quickly learn the pre requisites and start digging towards a solution.

What are your greatest weaknesses

Because I am independent and enjoy working quickly, it has been difficult for me to ask for help when I need it. I
have learned that it is much more beneficial both for me and the business to reach out when I do not understand
something or feel burned out with my workload. I have started taking measures to overcome this shortcoming,
the example being reaching out to my professors for help for something which I don’t understand while doing
problem sets. This does 2 fundamental things, saves me a lot of time and misconceptions also opens up new ways
to approach a problem
