CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY ENGLISH 6 UNIT 1 DIFFERENTIATED WORKSHEET PACK

Unit 1 Differentiated worksheet pack (1A–C):

Teacher guidance
This set of worksheets provides differentiated support for learners to interpret
and use colloquial expressions and figurative language.

How to introduce the worksheets to the class

Explain the task to the learners. They are going to work with and interpret figurative
expressions, by matching meanings and using the expressions, by interpreting
expressions and rewriting a passage in standard English, or by predicting the
meaning of expressions and using them in context.

How to encourage learners to self-select

Use the chart below to share information about the worksheets with learners.
Tell them what each worksheet asks them to do.
For Worksheet 1A say: Use this worksheet if you would like to match expressions
to their meanings and use them in sentences to show what they mean.
For Worksheet 1B say: Use this worksheet if you would like to interpret expressions used
in context and then rewrite the passage in standard English without the expressions.
For Worksheet 1C say: Use this worksheet if you would like to predict the meaning
of expressions and then use them appropriately in the context of a passage.
