January 01, 2022
Packaged Service ID: 2021-US-040
Doc#: <#####>

Service Overview
The migration of servers from an on-premises, private cloud, or other cloud provider to AWS is a straightforward process but does
require expertise in order to execute properly—especially when the existing environment is complex. Insight’s AWS Deployment
Team has performed numerous successful and complex migrations for customers over the past several years. Our expertise will
ensure that your migration to the AWS Cloud is successful and as seamless as possible.
Key Concepts in this Solution

 AWS Cloud
 AWS Application Migration Service
(MGN)
 CloudEndure

Scope of Services
The following is a high-level description of the Services Insight will provide:
 Implement and configure AWS Application Migration service to support the migration of up to 25 physical or
virtual machines
 Employ CloudEndure rather than AWS MGN when migrating to GovCloud, China Region, and specific legacy
operating systems (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/mgn/latest/ug/Supported-Operating-Systems.html)
 Perform the migration of the targeted VMs
 Test the startup and connectivity of the migrated VMs
 Support Client as Client tests the application usability on the migrated VM’s

Services Approach and Methodology

This engagement will be conducted in four phases based on Insights’ standard project delivery methodology.

Insight will perform the following Services:

1. Phase I – Project Kickoff
 Conduct a kickoff meeting to:
o Review and validate the project objectives and scope
o Discuss project activities and milestones
o Create a contact list of parties and members involved in the project
o Discuss and prepare remote connectivity requirements and needs
 Formalize the specification and complete Client Discovery document
 Assist Client with their initial Account setup, if not configured, with the Insight Architect
 Proceeding to Phase II is dependent on the organization providing Insight the required accounts and access
2. Phase II – AWS Application Migration Service Configuration
 Configure AWS Application Migration Services
o Create Replication Settings template
o Confirm all network requirements are met
o Add up to 25 source servers by installing the replication agent (Linux and Windows)
o Configure Launch Settings
o Launch and test an instance
o Cutover up to 25 servers
 Create one VM in AWS to perform as the Domain Controller role for the migrated VMs (if necessary)
3. Phase III – AWS Test Migration and Migration
 Perform a test migration of the targeted VMs.
o Launch test instances of each source server
o After testing is completed, terminate test instances and you are ready for cutover
o Work with client to schedule migration cutover of all VM’s or migration stages for each set of VM’s.
o On migration date, migrate selected VM’s to AWS by cutting over already tested VMs.
o Confirm VM deploys successfully in AWS and connectivity is working correctly.
o This project will include up to 25 on-premises servers to be migrated
4. Phase IV – Testing and Remediation
 Insight is responsible to confirm that VM deploys in AWS correctly and has network connectivity.
 Client is responsible to confirm that all applications are running to their approval after migration date.
 Insight will support client for up to 1 week after migration date or final migration wave date.
 After successful testing and any required remediation, Insight will work with client to remove the on-premises server
agents, if needed.
5. Phase V – Project Closure
 Conduct an overview session to review the project milestones and ensure that all project requirements have been
addressed
 Confirm receipt of Deliverables

Deliverables
The following items will be delivered to Client and shall constitute the work product of this engagement.
 Migration plan and final migrated servers configuration document
