Test Procedure for Cable Sheath

1) Ensure that the Cable has been de-energized and the Circuit is dead.

2) Note down the particulars of the Cable as in the test form.

3) Barricade the test area, include the remote end, with 'RED/WHITE' danger tape and

warning signboard.

During High Voltage Test, two watch-men must be provided outside the
Caution ! barricaded area to stop others to enter the test area.

4) Measure the insulation resistance for cable indivisually with other phases ground

5000V DC megger, before the test. Follow by discharge the cable for 22KV

2500V DC megger, used for 6.6KV

5) Prepare the cable Sheath for both end od the cable for hipot ( Free from Core )

6) Slowly increase the test voltage and notedown the leakage of the cable Sheath

7) After 1 minutes, slowly reduce the test voltage to zero and switch OFF the power supply

to the test instrument.

Hazardous voltages are still present in this test equipment after switch off.
Warning ! Discharge the test equipment before touching. Non-observance of the rules can
result in severe person injury or equipment damage.

8) Discharge the equipment before remove the connection.

9) Measure the insulation resistance for cable indivisually with other phases ground

5000V DC megger After Hipot ,Follow by Dischage the cable

Injection Voltage for 6.6KV - DC 5KV -1Min ( Megger used 2.5KVDC)

Injection Voltage for 22KV - DC 10KV -1Min ( Megger used 5 KVDC)
