Introduction
These instructions describe how to re-install Brilliance 1.2.5 Software on Brilliance CT™ 6-slice, 10-slice, 16-slice,
and 16 Power configurations. These are not upgrade instructions!
General Information
NOTE Read and understand this document in its entirety before proceeding. If you do not understand this
document, then please call your next level of support.
Installation Notes
• The K2000 VISA Key (K2D key) and the Service Key determine the level of utilities activation, philips-level or O-level.
• A new options key is required if this is a new installation or if the feature set for a specific customer site has changed.
• A backup of the existing version of system software, calibration, and six controllers (Ghost, TDP, MDP, Rhost, DMC,
and Couch) in NVRAM to an EOD should be made before installation or update of Release Brilliance CT Software, in
order to recover the system if the installation fails.

12 Does the Couch Board have an EIN# on the label? Yes___ No___
NOTE This only applies for the 16 Power. If you are not installing on a 16 Power system, skip this step and
continue with the step 13. The EIN# is 2008435, and label may be located on the front or back of the
Couch Control Board.
13 If the Rotor Type Value appeared during Step 2, then continue with Host OS Installation. If the Rotor Type Value did
not appear, then complete this step:
Step 2 in the Before Installation procedure asked you to record the Rotor Type value. You will use this value during
Host Application installation. If the value did not appear while performing Step 2, you will have to get the rotor casting
number off of the back of the rotor. During Host Application installation you will match this number to a chart in the
installation instructions, which has the correct Rotor Type Value to use. Since getting this value requires powering off
the wall box and opening up the gantry, you may want to perform this procedure before you start the Host OS and
Application Software Installation.
a Use the following steps to power down all CIRS Servers :
• Open CIRS folder on the Host PC Desktop.
• Double-click on the icon for the server you want to power down (Recon S-1, Recon S-2, Recon S-3).
• Click OK at the security warning.
• Log on as “philips_service”.
• Click OK.
• On the server Desktop, double-click the black Recon icon to launch a command window.
• In the command window, type tsshutdwn /POWERDOWN /DELAY:1
• Press the <Enter> key.
• During shutdown, the Remote Desktop connection will automatically disconnect and return you to the Host
desktop.
• Repeat for the other servers in your configuration.
b Power down the Host.
c Power down the 480 V wall box.
d Remove the Gantry Front and Rear Cover.
e Release the motor brake.
Host OS Installation
NOTE The following procedure must be done on the HOST PC, not the CIRS.
1 Unplug the system from the network. This will minimize the chances of getting a virus before the patches are
installed.
2 Remove the EOD from the EOD drive. The system may hang during the installation process if an EOD is in the
drive. Also, make sure there are no USB memory drives plugged.
3 Insert the Host OS CD into the CD/DVD ROM drive of the Host PC. The label on this CD is:
Brilliance_CT_OS_x.x.x.x
4 Restart the system:
a Click Start > Shutdown (or, from the Log on Window click Shutdown).
b On the Shutdown Window, select Restart from the drop-down menu, then click OK.
5 When the Welcome to Philips Medical Systems XP Unattended Install menu appears, press 1 = Begin Installation
to proceed with the installation. This will take approximately 10 min. The system will reboot itself when complete.
NOTE When the Host restarts after the first reboot, you may see the start screen with a message that says it
is looking for the SCSI device and it timed out. This may happen a few times before the system detects
the SCSI Device. If the system does not find the SCSI device, Power off the Host using the power
button on the PC, wait 10 seconds, then press the button again to power on the Host.
The reason for this is that during a warm reboot, the SCSI device (EOD) may not fully dissipate it’s
charge, and fail to reset. A hard Power Off/Power On should reset the device.
6 When prompted, remove the CD from the drive and restart the computer by pressing <Ctrl><Alt><Delete>. The
system will begin setting up Windows, which will take approximately 17 min.
NOTE The computer may restart several times during this process.
NOTE Do not touch the keyboard or mouse until the Set Computer Name window appears. Please ignore any
messages asking you to reboot. The system will reboot automatically.
NOTE While the Windows Setup Wizard installs files, a Message Box appears asking if you want to restart
your computer for the settings to take effect. DO NOT CLICK ON THIS BOX!
7 When prompted to Set Computer Name, enter the computer name and click OK. If the computer name was
recorded previously in Before Installation, then use it.
8 When notified that the computer name has been changed successfully, click OK.
9 The system will prompt you to Set IP Address. If you do not want to set a Fixed IP Address for the Hospital LAN,
click NO and continue to Step 10. Otherwise, click YES and continue with this step.
a Enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS, and/or Secondary DNS. Use information
recorded in Before Installation if applicable.
b Click OK when the IP address was changed successfully message box appears.
c Reboot the system (may happen automatically).
10 After system restart, click OK when notified that the "Windows XP Installation was completed successfully".
11 Verify Network Configurations:
a On the desktop, right-click on My Network Places , and select Properties.
b Click on View, and select Details.
c Verify that the configurations match the table below. If the Hospital LAN configuration or Host-IRS Connection
configuration does not exist, rename the Local Area Connection… configuration to match the table.
• Right-click on the configuration and select Rename.
• Enter the new name for the configuration (Hospital LAN or Host-IRS connection).
• Press <Enter>.
NOTE The Unused should only exist if there is a dual port network card for the Host-IRS Connection.
.
12 Change the IP Address on the Intel (R) PRO/1000MT Dual Port Server Adapter 2 (Unused Connection):
a Right-click on the Intel (R) PRO/1000MT Dual Port Server Adapter 2 (Unused).
b Select Properties.
c Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.
d Change the IP Address to 1.1.1.1.
e Click OK, then Close.
13 Make sure that the renamed configurations matches either what was recorded in the Before Installation section, if
applicable, or the defaults in the table below.
The system will reboot during the installation, and automatically log back in.
5 When prompted, remove the Host Applications CD Disk 1 and insert the Host Applications CD Disk 2, then click OK.
The prompt will tell you to “Please insert the next installation media.”
NOTE Once the Philips Install Supervisor starts installing components, do not touch the keyboard or mouse.
The system will reboot during the installation, and automatically log back in.
6 During installation, the View/Adjust Gantry Registration settings will appear. Select the correct Rotor Type
according to the table below, and click OK.
7 The next window will ask if the Couch Board has an EIN # incorporated on the label, select Yes or No and click OK.
NOTE This window should only appear for the 16 Power. If you are not installing on a 16 Power system, skip
this step and continue with the next step.
8 Adjust the date and time if necessary:
NOTE It is critical that the time is set correctly at this point and not modified after the Application CD has
been installed. Under certain conditions, modifying the date and time after the Application CD has
been installed will result in the option and service keys being corrupted. The only way to correct this
corruption is a full reinstallation.
p Verify the Screen Refresh Rate is set to 75Hz. If it is, click OK. Otherwise, set the rate to 75Hz and click Apply,
then click Yes.
q Click OK on the Monitor Properties Dialog.
r Click OK on the Display Properties Dialog.
s Close all open windows on the Desktop.
14 Log out of Administrator:
a Click Start > Shut Down.
b Select Log Off Administrator.
c Click OK.
15 Continue with the next section: Host Utilities Installation.
d Enter the visa in the K2000 Visa Entry window, and click Apply.
e Click Done.
NOTE Do not touch the keyboard or mouse at this time! During the installation process the system will reboot
several times.
9 When the "Installation completed" message appears at the bottom of the Philips Install Supervisor window, ensure
that all the items are Done, (exit code: 0x00000000). Then, click Close in the Philips Install Supervisor window.
Also close the Windows Explorer window if it is still open.
NOTE There may be a second Philips Install Supervisor Window open. Close that also.
10 Remove the CD.
11 CIRS Service Utilities Install:
a Make sure you are logged in as philips_service (you already should be after the install is complete).
b Click Start > My Computer.
c Navigate to C:\Cirs_temp (you may have to click on Show Hidden Files).
d Double-click on SUtils.
NOTE If the Internet Explorer Wizard appears, close out of it. Then, double-click on SUtils again.
e If the "user account philips_service already exist" message appears, click OK.
f When the "Service Tools Installation Completed" message appears, click OK.
g Close the Explorer window.
h If this is a 6-slice, non-UHR (no UHR hardware) system, then continue with Host Update Installation CD (non-
UHR 6-slice systems only) on the next page. Otherwise, continue with Operator’s Manual CD Installation on page
19.
CAUTION If you are loading a 6-slice system that does not have UHR hardware, continue with this
section. Otherwise, skip to the Operator's Manual CD section. Do NOT load this Host
Update CD on a 6-slice with UHR hardware, 10-slice, 16-slice, or 16-Power system.
1 Make sure you are logged in as philips_service.
2 Insert the Host Update CD into the CD/DVD ROM drive of the HOST PC
3 Initiate CD install:
a Click Start > My Computer.
