BrillianceTM CT 6/10/16-Slice Configuration (air) V2.3.5.13164 System Software Installation Manual Rev B Host Software Installation
This section describes how to re-install Brilliance 2.3.5.13164 Software on the Brilliance™ CT 6-slice, 10-slice, 16-
slice, and 16 Power Host computer. These are not upgrade instructions!
WARNING Use extreme caution when operating or working on equipment with covers
removed. Dangerous voltages are exposed when the gantry covers are removed.
Accidental contact with these voltages may cause serious injury or death to
service personnel.
General Information
NOTE Read and understand this document in its entirety before proceeding. If you do not understand this
document, then please call your next level of support.

22. If the Rotor Type Value appeared during Step 12 on page 9, then continue with Host OS Installation on page 16. If
the Rotor Type Value did not appear, then complete this step.
Step 12 on page 9 asked you to record the Rotor Type value. During Host Application installation you will match
this number to a chart in the installation instructions, which has the correct Rotor Type Value to use. If the value did
not appear while performing Step 12 on page 9, you will have to get the rotor casting number off of the back of the
rotor. Since getting this value requires powering off the wall box and opening up the gantry, you may want to
perform this procedure before you start the Host OS and Application Software Installation.

NOTE The following procedure must be done on the HOST computer, not the CIRS.
1. Log on as philips_service. If the Scanner Application is open, click Home > Logout.
2. Unplug the system from the network, as this will minimize the chances of getting a virus before the patches are
installed. If the remote recon option is installed, disconnect the network cable between the CIRS and the EBW.
3. Remove archive media from the drives. If the Host computer has a DVD-RAM drive, remove the disk. If the system
has an EOD drive, it may hang during the installation process if an EOD is in the drive. To remove the EOD from the
EOD drive:
a. Make sure you are logged on as philips_service.
b. On the Desktop, double-click on My Computer.
c. Right-click on Optical Drive (F:), and select Eject. The drive may also be listed as EOD1(F:).
d. Make sure there are no USB memory drives plugged in.
4. If you are installing this software on a replacement Dell 690 Computer ONLY, complete steps a-g (if your Host
computer is not a Dell 690, skip to Step 5 on page 16):
a. Restart the Host computer.
b. Press F2 at the start of reboot to access BIOS setup.
c. In BIOS Setup, use the Down Arrow Key to select Drives. Then press <Enter>.
d. Under Drives, select SATA Operation. Press <Enter> to activate SATA Operation configuration settings.
e. In the SATA Operation configuration settings, use the Left/Right Arrow Keys to select ATA.
f. Press Enter to validate your choice.
g. In the BIOS, press Escape, then use the Left/Right Arrow Keys to select Exit. Press <Enter>, and the computer
will reboot. Once the Host reboots, continue on.
5. Insert the DVD labeled: Brilliance Host OS - One Click V2.3.5.1011 into the CD/DVD drive and reboot the system.
6. When the system reboots, Windows will start loading files.

4. Booting from the CIRS OS CD will start the installation process. At this time data will be preserved, the hard disks
will be partitioned and formatted as necessary and the first stage of the Windows XP OS installation will copy
necessary Windows XP and CIRS installation files to the C: drive.
5. After approximately 10-20 minutes the Server will power down. If the server has not powered down after 20
minutes, there is an issue with the installation (see Diagnosing CIRS OS (Windows XP) Installation Problems on
page 97 for instructions).
6. Power up the server and immediately remove the CIRS OS CD.
7. The Windows XP installation will begin and take approximately 30 minutes to complete on the server. Once the
Windows XP installation finishes, the system will reboot, and automatically install the CIRS Application software.
The CIRS Application software installation also loads the Acquisitor driver, updates the Acquisitor FPGA
programming, loads the 3DBP driver, and updates the 3DBP FPGA programming.
CAUTION Do NOT manually power down or manually reboot the Server during the install. This could
cause the Acquisitor board and/or the 3DBP board to stop functioning. If the installation
seems to take too long or appears to hang, see Appendix C - Diagnosing CIRS Installation
Problems on page 97.
8. After approximately 5 more minutes, the system will power down. Once the server powers down for the final time,
continue with Configure S1 on page 68.
