Norwegian Cruise Line to add single rooms to their fleet

A growing popularity in solo traveling leads to the addition of nearly 1,000 single occupancy
rooms
MIAMI, March 6, 2024 – Norwegian Cruise Lines are adding around 1,000 staterooms for solo
travelers throughout its fleet. This announcement comes after a recent surge in popularity of solo
traveling. A study by Travelport found that solo travel made up nearly 18% of global bookings.
Radical Storage reported a 267% increase in online searches for the term “solo travel” between
December 2020 to April 2022.
“We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream vacation,” NCL
President David J. Herrera said. “Since we first launched our solo staterooms in 2010 with
Norwegian Epic, they have been quite popular with single travelers. We are continuously
listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want.”
Solo stateroom guests will have access to the Studio Lounge. It features a dedicated space to
relax, and a bar equipped with beer, wine, and a variety of snacks. Guests can also enjoy
activities scheduled for single travelers to mix and mingle.
The cruise line will be adding Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony categories for
cruises departing after Jan. 2, 2024. The staterooms will become more widely available on a
rolling basis.
