Open channels increase permeability in return the rate of the fluid also
increases.
There are other parameters that interfere with transport that we will get to
know later.
Osmotic pressure
Example
NaCl solute one mol dissolved in one liter water needs 58 grams
The molar concentration is one the number of particles is two moles of particles
(1mol Na And 1mol Cl) which is the osmolarity
Osmolality = number of osmoles per kg water
Osmolarity = number of osmoles per liter of solution
For one mol of calcium chloride (CaCl2) dissolved we have 3 osmoles is the
molarity of the solution
Active transport
3. Vesicular transport:
endocytosis
phagocytosis
transcytosis
pinocytosis
exocytosis and its control in secretory cells
Na+/K+ pump:
expels 3 molecules of Na+ outside the cell and transports 2 K+ inside by a use of
1 ATP molecule. The liberated energy from atp causes change in the carrier
protein which results in extruding the 3 Na+ to the outside and transporting 2
K+ to the inside.
