The two maps illustrate the arrangements of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology main campus in

1916 and 2023. Overall, the current destination has myriad alterations, including the appearance of new
facilities and the removal of existed road. These developments are likely for the increase in the number
of students over the years.

In 1916, most of the area was open land with only two main buildings. The main entrance of the campus
was next to Charlse river road. Upon entering, the first insfastructure was the Killian Court, consisting of
12 smaller parts, and not far away in the North East direction was the athletic field.

In 2023, the map has been upgraded into a 3D version for better illustrations. Not only that, the campus
also has undergone pronouced alterations. Now there are so many more buildings than over 100 years
ago, filling up the flat area over 100 years ago. The athletic field and tech street were removed to make
way for new facilities. The current university has trees and bushes all around the insfatructure, but it is
hard to tell if this is a new addition or the old map did not include them.
