How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the teacher's
direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly practice based.

✘ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of learning
and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates the learning as
the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing authentic/real-world
projects to demonstrate their learning and publish results outside of the classroom. (Note: This
objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project
to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.)
How will you connect this topic to students’ prior knowledge as you teach? The biggest connection
I will use during this lesson would be how there are different students from all over the world in our
classroom no matter the color, height, size and background from each students. We are all together
in one classroom.

Managing the technology: We will talk about storyboards and how they may be useful when
developing digital stories before the students start to create theirs. Every student will collaborate with
a partner to create a written storyboard about their preferred American character. Allowing students to
select the subject of their choice for their project instills a feeling of freedom of choice and increases
student engagement. To ensure they don't get sidetracked or forget the assignment, the students will
be given a certain amount of time to do it. During this time, I'll be moving about the classroom,
watching, and responding to any questions the children may have.

Lesson idea implementation:

the lecture will start with a Microsoft Sway class summary. We'll go over the tool's functionality and
features that will support the students in creating their digital stories. After that, I'll go over the
directions for the digital tale and provide a list of American figures that the students can pick from to
finish their assignment. To help the students visualize how their product should appear when it's
finished, I'll present a few samples of acceptable work. After that, the students will be able to start
working on their projects on their own. I will provide the kids with a thirty-minute period to ask
questions and discuss with their peers. The teacher, I, will be moving around the classroom at this
time, asking questions and seeing how each student is doing. I'll allow students a little extra time to
complete their assignments before turning them in. They will receive a grade based on a rubric I have
prepared, and I will offer them feedback along with the rubric.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection

Microsoft Sway is the technological tool I have chosen for my lesson plan. This is an excellent tool
for students to use to create digital stories, and it is very kid-friendly. Because it offers a variety of
options that benefit all kids, it is excellent for all students. For instance, in addition to entering their
information, students have the option to record their voice. Students can also upload images and
videos, make hyperlinks, and add closed captions to their assignments. All of these are quite helpful
for students who have disabilities or representation.
