Journal 6

This week has been quite eventful for several reasons. To kick things off, we wrapped up

a significant oversight project on Wednesday that demanded almost the entire week's

attention. Completing it was a major relief, considering the countless hours invested in its

completion. Following this milestone, I attended an informative luncheon focused Small

Business capital and loans. These funds are the life to small businesses, without it small

businesses have no way of executing their business plans. The other interns and I gained

valuable insights into the p learned strategies to bolster small businesses' access to capital, and

hopefully longstanding success.

As the week progressed, matters grew even more intense. It was a pivotal time with a

highly anticipated bill on the Senate floor the bill, encompassing Ukraine aid, Israel aid, and

notably, the country’s first border reform in 30 years, sparked heated debates. Interns and I

decided to witness the senators deliberating on the bill firsthand. This week the bill passed the

senate floor after a 19-hour filibuster. The bill will now go to the house for deliberations. Most

likely this will not pass due to various factors, which leaves me somewhat disheartened,

considering its positive impacts amidst imperfections. The border crisis persists, and partisan

gridlock impedes progress. Nevertheless, deliberations will transpire among house members,

and will most likely be voted on in the next coming weeks.

Meanwhile, at the Supreme Court, hundreds braved the freezing cold to attend oral

arguments on Colorado's actions, which may be deemed unconstitutional. A consensus seems

to lean towards an 8-1 decision, potentially safeguarding the legitimacy of future presidential

elections from potential threats posed by such actions.

To round out the week, I left for Milledgeville Thursday night for homecoming. So, I

worked at home and watched a hearing on China’s influence on the U.S. economy. This is a long

weekend with Presidents’ Day on Monday, so I hope to explore the city and enjoy an extra day

of rest after a travel day on Sunday.
