G.O.(P) No.98/2023/LBR. Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 27th November, 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 5 read
with section 9 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (Central Act 11 of 1948), the Government of Kerala
hereby make the following amendment to the notification issued under G.O.(P) No.40/2023/LBR.

dated 12th April, 2023 and published as S.R.O. No. 489/2023 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary

No.1352 dated 17th April, 2023, namely:-

AMENDMENT

In the said notification,-

(i) in the operating part, for the words "and Ice Factories", the symbols and words ", Ice
Factories, Handloom Industry and Khadi Industry" shall be substituted;

(ii) in “II. Sub-committee for revising minimum rates of wages payable to the employees
employed in Chartered Accountants Office, Hosiery Manufacturing, Small Plantations Industry, Drying
of coconut for making Copra, the manufacture of Ayurvedic and Allopathic Medicines, Beedi and
Cigar Production, Light Motor Vehicles and the Hill Products Industry sectors.”, for the words, “and
the Hill Products Industry”, the symbol and words “, Hill Products Industry and Handloom Industry”
shall be substituted;

(iii) in "III. Sub-committee for revising minimum rates of wages payable to the employees
employed in Rubber Crape Mills, Sales Promotion of Pharmaceutical products, the Cane and Bamboo
Industry, Agricultural Operations and allied sectors such as dairy farms, nurseries and cashew
plantations, Footwear Manufacturing, Security Services, Domestic Labour and the Ice Factories
sectors." for the words "and Ice Factories", the symbol and words ", Ice Factories and Khadi Industry"
shall be substituted;

(iv) in the explanatory note, for the words "and Ice Factories", the symbols and words ", Ice
Factories, Handloom Industry and Khadi Industry" shall be substituted.

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

As per notification issued under G.O. (P) No. 40/2023/LBR. dated 12 th April, 2023 and
published as S.R.O. No. 489/2023 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.1352 dated 17 th April,
2023, the Government appointed three sub-committees to hold enquiries and to advise the

Government in the matter of revision of minimum rates of wages payable to the employees. In
exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 5 read with section 9 of
the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (Central Act 11 of 1948), the Government have decided to include the
Handloom Industry sector in Sub-committee II and Khadi Industry in Sub-committee III constituted
as per the above said notification, so as to hold enquiries and to advise the Government in the matter
of revision of minimum rate of wages payable to the said sector, by amending the said notification.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
