Course Objective(s)
The course is designed to provide you the knowledge about how consumers, firms and governments make
decisions that together determine how resources are allocated. An appreciation of economics and the general
workings of the economy have become increasingly necessary to understand government policy-making, the
conduct of businesses, and the enormous changes in economic systems which are occurring throughout the
world. It is also becoming increasingly important in both government and the private sector to have an
understanding of some of the methods used within economics, such as quantitative methods, statistical and
causal inference, and experimental methods
Course Contents
Engineering Economics, Interest Rate and Economic Equivalence, Understanding Money and Its Management,
Present-Worth Analysis, Annual Equivalent-Worth Analysis, Rate-of-Return Analysis, Cost Concepts Relevant to
Decision Making, Depreciation and Corporate Taxes, Developing Project Cash Flows, Project Risk and
Uncertainty, Special Topics in Engineering Economics.
Including awareness of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is essential in our course, cultivating
comprehension and dedication to tackling critical global issues like SDG 8, which focuses on Decent Work and
Economic Growth.
