Soneto de secuencia Shakesperiano
Team #2

Teacher:
Literature has changed with the past of the time and the way authors used to write many years
ago is no longer the same way modern authors do now. Even so, the subject of Renaissance
literature has given us an idea of the techniques that were used by some authors in the first
years of literature and which were the main themes of the works of those years.
As a final project, each member of team 2 wrote a sonnet composed of 14 lines (three
quatrains and one couplet.) The 5 sonnets in total are linked in rhyme and talk about the
stages of life (childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and old age.) It is
written in order to put into practice everything that was learned during the semester and to
show our writing skills based on the writing style of the authors that we were seeing in the
last months. It was very helpful to have the opportunity to read all the amazing works that we
were analyzing during this last semester since all of this helped us to do our best in this final
evidence.
When you are a child everything is bright
Enjoying the simple moments life has
Through your little eyes all seems to be fine
Playing with friends and having many laughs.
For the stage of youth, when everything seems to get calm with your feelings or at least to
learn how to control them but is also the time when life starts to get more difficult and
challenging, we wrote “Barely breathing in the concrete jungle” to describe this feeling of
coming out to the world to try to start this new chapter of being a young adult. For the stage
of life of being an adult we have the lines “Work equals success, among other lies” and “To
end up where it feels you were induce” to talk about how maybe you feel you were rebel and
tried to follow your own path only to realize that at the end society already decided for you
and you need to prioritize other things above your passions to be able to live. And finally, the
elderly, for this one we wrote “In this phase the tomorrow isn’t promised” because even
though this quote could be true in all the stages it is especially true on this one, and it’s living
with the constant thought of knowing your destiny but not knowing when is going to happen.
Justification
Life is a bunch of memories. Sometimes it is hard to explain out loud all the dreams, changes,
hopes, frustration, and regrets that live in our head until our very last breath. For this reason,
we wanted to try to put them into words in order to understand how playing around without a
care was back then, when we felt left out and also homecoming kings and queens, and this
point in our existence where we are about to face the real world by our own as we wait for the
happily ever after to come in the following years.
