A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan

in MTBMLE III

I. Objective

Given several activities, the Grade-III pupils will be able to differentiate count from mass nouns
with 75% proficiency.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Differentiating Count from Mass Nouns


B. Materials: worksheets, Real Objects ( rocks, eggs, sugar,
oil, soil, pencils, water, Soy Sauce, bananas, guavas)
C. References: Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education Book III
D. Code: MT3G-la-c-4.2

III. Procedure

A. Review

 The teacher will ask the pupils about the previous topic they have discussed.
“What was our topic yesterday?”

B. Motivation

 Ask the pupils “Have you ever tried to count the soil one by one?”
 “How about these rocks?”

C. Presentation
 The teacher will introduce the lesson to the class.

 Count nouns- nouns that can be counted.


Example: bananas, rocks, camote
 Mass nouns- nouns that cannot be counted.
Example: sugar, water, oil, soil, Soy Sauce
Activity #1

 The teacher will let the pupils play a game called “Statue Dance”.
 The pupils will dance and the teacher will stop the music then pupils will
do the same.
 The teacher will pause the video then pupils will pause at the same time.
 The pupil who will be caught moving will be called by the teacher.

Activity #2

 The teacher will choose the partner of each pupil.


 The pupils will observe things inside and outside classroom.
 Every partner will present in front of the class at least 1 Count Noun and
1 Mass Noun.

Activity #3

 Divide the pupils into 2 groups.


 Teacher will give worksheets to every group.
 When done, every group will present their answers through representing
a leader in front.

 “What is the difference between Count Nouns and Mass Nouns?”

E. Application

 Divide the class into 2 groups.


 Let each group list 5 count nouns and 5 mass nouns in a manila paper
given by the teacher and let them present it in front of the class.
