Date of Completion: August 2024

This study investigates the relationship of sustainable practices and tourist behavioral intention in the
City of Tagaytay. This study aims to provide sufficient data on the sustainable practices in selected
tourist attractions in Tagaytay City and how it effects the intention of tourist revisit. Quantitative methods
such as survey was used in gathering data, combined with random sampling with a total of 60 local
respondents in Tagaytay City. /The findings revealed no significant relationship between sustainable
practices and tourist behavioral intention. As showed on the table of sustainable practices (Environment,
Social, and Economic), the results exceed the significance value of 0.05. Specifically, in terms of
environmental indicators, respondents strongly agreed with indicators 1, 2, 3, and 5, while indicator 4
received an "Agree" rating. Social indicators 3, 4, and 5 were strongly agreed upon, while indicators 1
and 2 received an "Agree" rating. For economic indicators, 1, 2, 3, and 5 received a "Strongly Agree,"
while indicator 4 received an "Agree”. Similarly, regarding tourist behavioral intentions (destination
selection, accommodation, mode of transportation, and food and dining choices), there is no significant
relationship the results exceeds the significance value of 0.05.

In conclusion, the result of the study in finding the connection between sustainable practices and tourist
behavioral intention revealed that there is no significant relationship between the two, accepting the
provided null hypothesis of the study. this study doesn't dismiss the importance of sustainability in
tourism but highlights the need for a more deeper understanding of the factors influencing tourist
decisions. It opens the door for further research into the effects of sustainable tourism, recognizing that
the evolving industry requires ongoing efforts to comprehend the various factors shaping tourist

behavior.

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

All over the world tourism constitutes temporary movement for recreation, leisure, religion, family or

business. Attraction as one of the components of tourism destination is the major reason behind tourist’s

movement to any destination. Tagaytay is a popular tourist destination as a whole. Given that it receives

the most tourists in Cavite, the city will need to be more careful about how it maintains its attractions.

The study found that sustainable practices have a significant positive effect on tourists' behavioral

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 5

intention. This means that tourists are more likely to engage in sustainable behaviors, such as disposing

of trash properly and conserving water, if they are aware that the tourist attraction is implementing

sustainable practices. The study also found that tourists' satisfaction with the tourist attraction mediates

the relationship between sustainable practices and tourists' behavioral intention. This means that tourists

who are satisfied with the tourist attraction are more likely to engage in sustainable behaviors, regardless

of whether or not they are aware of the tourist attraction's sustainable practices. The study's findings

suggest that tourist attractions in Tagaytay City should implement sustainable practices in order to

encourage tourists to engage in sustainable behaviors. This will help to protect the environment and

ensure the long-term sustainability of the tourism industry in Tagaytay City. (John Paul S. Amado,

Jhoanna S. Bautista, and Janelle Louise T. Garcia 2021) People visit a tourist destination in Tagaytay

City because it employs sustainable practices and marketing techniques to draw visitors.

World Tourism Organization (WTO) has given a common definition of sustainable tourism: “Sustainable

tourism development meets the need of present tourist and host regions while protecting and enhancing

opportunity for future. It is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that

economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, ecological

processes, biological diversity, and life support system.”

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 6

The It is well-recognized that tourism is one of the most important sectors in terms of the success of

many countries around the world and one of the most significant employers globally as UNWTO

estimates that one in ten jobs worldwide are directly related to tourism (UNWTO, 2020). Sustainability

of the place was indeed to protect the natural resources and to keep the people welcome at the place and

to let them see the beauty of tourist attractions in Tagaytay City as well as the fun activities of the

attraction. Tagaytay has a lot of potential tourists all over the year since it was one of the most famous

tourist attractions.

(Milan Topic and Hubert Beidermann, 2022) The study found that sustainable practices have a significant

positive impact on tourists' behavioral intention. This means that tourists are more likely to visit tourist

attractions in Tagaytay City if they are aware that the tourist attraction is implementing sustainable

practices. The study also found that tourists' environmental awareness mediates the relationship between

sustainable practices and tourists' behavioral intention. This means that tourists who are more

environmentally aware are more likely to visit tourist attractions in Tagaytay City, regardless of whether

or not they are aware of the tourist attraction's sustainable practices.

The study's findings suggest that tourist attractions in Tagaytay City should implement sustainable

practices in order to attract more tourists. This will help to promote sustainable tourism in Tagaytay City

and protect the city's environment. Both of these articles suggest that sustainable practices are important

for tourist attractions in Tagaytay City. Tagaytay City is one of the vital tourist sites of the country's

tourism industry. The city offers scenic attractions and invigorating cool climate. It's a great advantage

for local and international visitors because it is near Metro Manila which makes inaccessible for them. A

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 7

perfect getaway for people seeking the daily pressures of life in the Metropolis. The captivating view of

the Taal Volcano is the main attraction of Tagaytay. Alternatively, different establishments are also

available in Tagaytay City. One of which is the Tagaytay Picnic Grove located at Barangay Sungay East.

It offers facilities for picnic, horseback riding, skating, swimming, sightseeing, overnight stay, and the

famous zipline and cable car (Tagaytay City Official Website, 2018).

By implementing sustainable practices, tourist attractions can attract more tourists, promote sustainable

tourism, and protect the city's environment. (Charmaine G. Ancheta, Mary Christine E. Calingo, and Ma.

Kristine A. Cruz 2022). Sustainable tourism makes people realize the responsibility towards nature.

Increasing respect for natural, social and cultural environment of destination area and enhancing

customer satisfaction gives people more reason to choose sustainable tourism.

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 8

Background of the Study

Tagaytay was one of the most popular tourist spots in the Philippines. Also, it served as a venue for

special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays for individuals from various locations.

Tagaytay, situated in the province of Cavite in the Philippines, has long been a favorite destination for

both local and international travelers. Aside from that, it is known as the "Second Summer Capital" of the

Philippines and is also known for its appealing landscapes, cool climate, and vibrant tourism industry.

The concept of sustainability can be divided into three categories: social sustainability, economic

sustainability, and environmental sustainability. Accordingly, the growth of sustainable tourism in

Tagaytay over the last decade has been substantial. This development has been mirrored in sustainability,

particularly in tourist's environmentally responsible behaviors.

The purpose of this study is to investigate practices and strategies of selective tourist’ attraction in

Tagaytay City towards more sustainable tourism. Moreover, to understand the tourism sector and to

increase public knowledge of the use of sustainability in Tagaytay's tourist attractions. Thus, this research

will examine a range of evidence relating to the impact of tourist behavioral intention in selective tourist

attractions in Tagaytay City; assess the current practices and strategies of LGUs towards more

sustainable and inclusive tourism aligned with ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016 -2025; and develop

a strategic action plan for sustainable and inclusive tourism in government-managed tourism sites. This

will cover several terminologies used in the travel and tourism sector.

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 9

In addition, with all the information collected, the researchers would like to understand the real reason

why tourists still want to travel to Tagaytay City. The researchers would want to get the most effective

design to reduce man-made and natural disasters and attract more tourists. The result and findings of this

study will be beneficial to the future tourism industry in Tagaytay. Through understanding the experience

and perspective of students and tourists, we would be able to recommend a better recovery strategy.

Definition of Terms

To simplify the understanding of the study, different terms are defined herein.

Sustainable Practice – It refers to environmentally friendly activities that humans adopt or utilize

to retain the qualities that are valued in the physical environment.

Social – It refers to the process of developing long-term, effective locations that promote well-being by

understanding people's needs from where they live and work.

Social sustainability is a set of official and informal activities that incorporate infrastructure to support

people's cultural and social lives. It creates an atmosphere conducive to social involvement as well as

room for people and spaces to grow. It fosters people's health and well-being by providing them with

equitable chances and resources to support their families socially and economically.

Economic Sustainability- It refers to strategies that promote long-term economic growth without

negatively harming the community's social, environmental, and cultural components. Economic

sustainability is all about providing people what they want without compromising their quality of life,

especially in developing countries.

Environment Sustainability - It refers the process of providing air, food, water, and shelter while also

ensuring that the environment is neither harmed or polluted. Environmental sustainability may be

achieved by conserving all energy and natural resources. The ecological system and all environmental

parameters are kept in balance by economic sustainability. Humans exploit natural resources while

ensuring that they are maintained for future generations.

Accommodation – It refers to a facility that provides regular or infrequent tourist lodging, such as hotels,

campgrounds, short-term furnished housing, vacation houses, resorts, holiday centers for children and

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 13

young people, youth hostels and refuges, and so on.

Behavioral intention – It refers to the motivating elements that impact a certain activity, where the

greater the intention to conduct the behavior, the more likely the behavior will be completed.

Tourist – It refers to an individual that travels to a location for enjoyment. Tourism is an industry of

providing services to tourists or the recreational activity of traveling. Here are some instances of how

they are put to use. Tourists from all over the world travel to the city throughout the summer.

Attraction – It refers to a site where people go for enjoyment and curiosity, generally while on vacation:

major/big/top tourist attraction The Grand Canyon is Arizona's most popular tourist destination. He

intends to make the former jail a tourist destination.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE

The literature and the studies examined that have relevance for this investigation are presented in this

chapter. A synthesis of the state of our art and shortcomings in review will be provided at the end of this

chapter.

Sustainable Practices: Traveling Light, Leaving a Positive Mark

Sustainable practices encompass a wide range of strategies aimed at ensuring the long- term well -being

of the environment, society, and the economy. These actions include renewable energy use, energy

efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable agriculture, water conservation, eco- friendly products,

biodiversity protection, social responsibility, and more. Competitiveness and environmental and social

issues of sustainable tourism development can be addressed together by implementing innovations and

fostering sustainable consumption principles, providing new tourism services for disabled and old people,

and achieving completive advantage together by contributing to welfare and needs of local communities

and dealing with sustainable development priorities of tourism destinations.

Social

According to study of Wastia etal., (2023) the description given above, Tenganan Pegringsingan Village

has a special idea called Jaga Satru, which serves as the basis for the creation of awig -awig, or

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 15

customary law, that is in effect in the village. According to its interpretation, Jaga Satru is the idea of

protecting oneself from outside influences originating from the village community's Hindu Indira

teachings.

There are three ways that Jaga Satru is used in Tenganan Pegringsingan Village: as an awig-awig for

settlement spatial planning, as a component of community symbols, and as a concept in various village

celebrations. Since environmental preservation and this idea are closely related, achieving the Sustainable

Development Goals (SDGs) will also benefit from it, particularly SDG number 11 addressing SDG Goal

Number 15 on "Sustainable Cities and Settlements" and “Land Ecosystems". Given its significance,

Tenganan Pegringsingan Village has the potential to serve as a prototype for integrating local knowledge

into the realization of SDGs in other regions, both as a preventative measure and a response to unchecked

environmental damage.

Though social sustainability is conceptually contested, social inclusion and sense of belonging have been

identified as key values integral to creating social sustainability in urban communities (Dempsey et al.,

2018). (Gretzel, 2018). Social have allowed me to stay in touch with family and friends, connect with

new friends and colleagues, share my interests with others and join communities I never knew existed,

learn about people and places, find out about hidden travel gems, and post lots of cat pictures. My drive

to capture meanings and effects of social media use therefore emerges from a deep personal need to make

sense of the world around me.

Environment

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 16

According to Mendoza, R. L. (2023) Sustainable practices are crucial for a greener future. Through the

use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable agriculture, water conservation,

and eco-friendly approaches across different sectors, we can shape a more environmentally conscious

world.

Achieving this greener future requires collective action, education, and collaboration, ensuring a

sustainable legacy for future generations. The related knowledge is more on the nature protection,

policies and property rights, waste management and renovation of facilities (Lacko et. al, 2018). The

related knowledge is more on the nature protection, policies and property rights, waste management and

renovation of facilities (Lacko et. al, 2018). This will show how the environmental influences for the

community and let them know the policies that implemented in the tourist attractions such as they cannot

throw their trashes all the time and anywhere because the place was strictly a protected area (Keller et. al,

2018).

According to the study of Si et al., (2020) the tourism industry has long recognized the importance of the

environment. Recognizing the importance of the environment is a great way to enjoy a vacation in a

calm, sustainable place. These eco-resorts can be found deep within forests, on beaches, or at spring

resorts; their common objective is to quickly and easily preserve the natural resources. Owing to their use

of eco-friendly methods to ensure a green environment, support for the environment and preservation of

natural resources, and application of sustainable practices.

Economic

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 17

Tourism activities help maximizes the tourism potential of a place. According to (Dincu, 2018), the

development of tourism on the role of tourism potential showed that it has an impact on the economy of

the country. Tourism Knowledge Center (2019) Tourism stakeholders have the capacity to strengthen and

impede sustainability efforts. In providing tourism experience, especially for an archipelagic destination

like the Philippines, there is a need for coordination among tourism product and service providers at

every stage of the experience to advance sustainable tourism.

As global economy, social and technological development processes are still expanding, the analysis of

new and specific forms, present in business is necessary in tourism as well in order to achieve sustainable

development of tourism. One of them involves the clusters, gaining a greater significance – to locate in

one network geographical companies and establishments that closely cooperate and that are focused on

mutual business results and ones that complement each other.

The innovations are expected to contribute to breakthroughs at the international level and that may

determine companies' operation under new effective organizational forms that generalize ideas, provide

with some competitive advantage and open new possibilities in tourism as well.

Tourist Behavioral Intention: Path to Mindful Exploration

A higher level of satisfaction with a cultural heritage site, as seen from a managerial perspective, is

associated with the conceptualization of tourist intention to return (loyalty), signifying a greater

willingness to revisit in the future. While there is no significant difference in the three indicators when

grouped by demographic profile, from a theoretical perspective, this study establishes a cultural segment

by confirming overall satisfaction, perceived value, and behavioral intention among tourists. Specifically,

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 18

tourist experiences can predict the intention to revisit, either directly or indirectly through the mediation

of tourist satisfaction while exploring tourist destinations in the Philippines. Additionally, the value

received can influence tourist satisfaction.

Destination Selection

Libre, Manalo & Laksito (2022) Revisiting a tourist destination is a significant concern in destination

management. It refers to a visitor's intention to return to the attraction within a certain period.

Behavioral intention is the impact of service quality received by customers and can be either positive or

negative. Behavioral intention is explained by attitudes toward behavior and subjective norms. It is

important to comprehend the service quality and satisfaction because this variable is a predictor of

consumer behavior (Bigne et al., 2018). Empirical research found that service quality and customer

satisfaction affect customer behavior intention (Cole et al., 2020).

When tourists have a positive experience, including meeting their expectations and receiving good

service, they are more likely to intend to come back. Remarkably, visitor satisfaction has the greatest

impact on the intention to revisit tourist destinations in the Philippines. The experience of consumers can

directly indicate the likelihood of returning tourists to visit the Philippines. In addition, Gayeta & Ylagan

(2022) stated that in their study perceived value plays a crucial role in directly influencing tourist

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 19

satisfaction by mediating between the quality and satisfaction of tourists in the destination. This

mediation is confirmed through four indicators: price value, social value, and quality. As supported by

the study of Zheng et al, (2018) positive influences on overall satisfaction include natural and human

scenery, food and drink quality, traffic facilities, and tourism product characteristics; factors like food

environment, sanitation, entertainment, and tourism product diversity do not impact overall satisfaction;

and tourists' intention to revisit and recommend is positively linked to overall satisfaction.

According to Debbagh & Azouaoui, (2021) In popular tourist spots, the primary focus is on enticing

visitors, making tourists the central factor. Thus, in the competitive realm of tourist destinations, success

hinges on the capacity to craft, enrich, and distinguish their image, as this elevates their standing,

prestige, and potential to draw in greater numbers of tourists down the line. Furthermore, the research

sought to identify which specific dimensions of destination image held the greatest sway over these

behavioral intentions.

The results pointed to the island's cultural attributes as having the most substantial impact on tourists'

intentions and behaviors. The study delves into the theoretical and managerial implications of these

findings, shedding light on the importance of destination image in understanding the behavior of cultural

tourists. In conclusion, this research emphasizes that destination image is a pivotal concept deserving of

continued exploration for a deeper comprehension of cultural tourists' behaviors.

in the competitive realm of tourist destinations, success hinges on the capacity to craft, enrich, and

distinguish their image, as this elevates their standing, prestige, and potential to draw in greater numbers

of tourists down the line. (Debbagh & Azouaoui, 2021) In a study presented by (Aguirre, Ibrahim & Lee,

2021), they stated that the factors of restoration, learning and discovery, and self-fulfillment are strong

indicators of tourists' intentions to revisit a travel destination. When tourists experience mental and

physical relaxation, perceive stress relief, and feel they've recovered in a destination, they are more

inclined to return.

This also holds true for motives related to learning, discovery, and self-fulfillment. When tourists believe

they've gained new knowledge, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment during their visit, their desire

to revisit is reinforced. In a study presented by (Aguirre, Ibrahim & Lee, 2021), they stated that the

Following the author's statement “it is one of the most difficult issues, solved in practice that tourism

policy formers face in the countries of different economic development level.”

Mode of Transportation

Tourists' personalities affect how they react to unexpected incidents while traveling. The same event can

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 21

lead to different reactions in people because of their unique traits. When tourists can recognize negative

events accurately, it reduces the harm and changes in their behavior. To help with this, it's crucial to

provide tourists with detailed information from different sources so they can better understand the event

and correct any preconceived ideas. (Yu, 2020)

In the existing body of literature, several studies have explored the phenomenon of tourist behavioral

intentions, focusing on the factors influencing tourists’' decisions to revisit specific destinations.

A notable pattern that emerges from these studies is the significant impact of past experiences. For

instance, research by Yu (2020) Tourists' personalities affect how they react to unexpected incidents

while traveling. The same event can lead to different reactions in people because of their unique traits.

When tourists can recognize negative events accurately, it reduces the harm and changes in their

behavior.

To help with this, it's crucial to provide tourists with detailed information from different sources so they

can better understand the event and correct any preconceived ideas. the study of Borbon, Apridato,

Pulihin, & Ylagan (2022) corroborated this, highlighting the role of past experiences in shaping tourists'

intentions. Their respondents express a strong inclination to revisit Batangas in their future travel plans,

primarily driven by their positive past experiences, which allowed them to explore various places in the

region. Notably, a substantial connection exists between respondents' intention to revisit Batangas, their

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 22

willingness to recommend it as a tourist destination, their readiness to invest more in its products and

services, and their loyalty towards Batangas' tourist attractions.

Furthermore, a significant relationship is observed between the intention to recommend and both the

willingness to recommend and loyalty. As a result, the researchers have formulated a comprehensive

model that outlines the correlations between various aspects of tourist behavioral intentions, including

revisit intention, word of mouth, willingness to pay more, and loyalty.

Dining and Food Choices

In the tight competition of hospitality businesses, service quality and customer satisfaction are critical to

success and survival. Throughout the previous decades, the concepts of service quality and customer

pleasure was extensively researched and used in marketing texts and activities. Businesses have been

compelled to provide additional services and offers to their customers since the beginning of the

consumption period. As consumption shifts to post-consumption, businesses must provide more services

and provide more to their consumers.

Aside from continuously improving service quality, ongoing innovation is also required in the current

pandemic situation, given the market's many competitors. Customers are always on the lookout for new

things to do and see. Managers may develop or remodel picture spots on a regular basis to meet the needs

of customers (Angmalisang, 2021)

According to (Karim, Rabiul, Arfat. 2023) Their study claims that the experience at the destination plays

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 23

a role in how destination service factors relate to the intention to complain, but it doesn't have the same

mediating effect on the relationship between destination service factors and word-of -mouth (WOM)

communication. However, destination satisfaction does mediate the connection between destination

service factors and both WOM and complaint intention. This is further supported by the study of

Madridano (2021) the study concluded that The study's findings reveal a clear profile of the majority of

respondents, who are primarily single women from the local area, typically in the 18-25 age range, often

students or young adults with Bachelor's Degrees, and moderate incomes. Their primary motivation for

traveling is leisure, and they commonly rely on the Internet to select their travel destinations.

Importantly, Word of Mouth (WoM) plays a significant role in influencing their travel decisions.

To capitalize on this information, the study recommends a three-fold approach for destination

management. Firstly, improving the official website is crucial to enhance information accessibility for

potential travelers. Secondly, promoting volunteerism and sustainable tourism practices can attract

socially conscious tourists and contribute to the destination's sustainability. Lastly, given the persisting

concerns related to COVID-19, adopting safety measures and precautionary steps is essential for

safeguarding visitors and preventing the virus's spread. By implementing these recommendations, the

destination can better align with the preferences and requirements of its target audience and adapt to the

evolving landscape of travel.

Synthesis

There is an insinuation in the analysis of related literature and research on the current study. All of the

reviews cited are important because their attention is primarily on the Sustainable Practices and Tourist

Behavioral Intention in Selected Tourist Attraction. In the literature, a lot of discussion are made about

three mentioned subject matters primarily because it is important to highlight the importance of these

three as the researcher is aiming to investigate the relationship of the three.

CHAPTER III

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK/OPERATIONAL FRAMEWORK

Theoretical Framework

To explain, support, and add weight to this research study, the researcher used a theory namely:

Sustainable Practices and Tourist Behavioral Intention.

The theory of Sustainable practices, according to a theoretical framework for the sustainable

development of tourism (Adillón, R, 2019). Sustainability principles refer to the environmental,

economic, and socio-cultural aspects of tourism development, and a suitable balance must be established

between these three dimensions to guarantee its long-term sustainability.

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 26

For the theory of Planned Behavior, according to the theory of planned behavior (Azjen, 1991), attitudes,

subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control all three play a role in determining intents, which in

turn influence behaviors. Depending on the degree to which a behavior is controlled by the individual and

the degree to which perceived behavioral control is an accurate measure of actual behavioral control,

external factors may also directly force or prevent behaviors, regardless of the intention.

Operational Framework

Overall, the study intends to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in Tagaytay, Cavite, by

investigating how sustainable practices might influence visitor intents and behaviors, ultimately leading

to more ecologically and socially responsible tourism in the area. The study's primary subjects is tourists.

They are the people who go to the tourist sites in Tagaytay, Cavite, and their attitudes, behaviors, and

intents are the subject of the study. The management and staff of the chosen tourism sites are critical.

They may be required to submit information on their sustainable practices, and visitor data, and to

facilitate surveys or interviews with visitors. Depending on the circumstances, stakeholders in the tourism

sector, local communities, and environmental groups may be interested in the study's findings and may

be consulted or participate in discussions. Collaboration and participation of these diverse entities are

required to undertake a complete study on sustainable practices and visitor behavioral intents in certain

tourist destinations in Tagaytay, Cavite, and to guarantee the research is thorough and reputable.

This study determined the sustainable practices and tourist behavioral intention in selective tourist

attractions in the city of Tagaytay, Cavite. The respondents of the study are thirty (30) tourists on day 1

from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 nn; and thirty (30) tourists on day 2 from 10: 00a.m to 12:00nn at selective

tourist spots in Tagaytay who are completely enumerated for a study population of 60 respondents. A

random sampling technique was used in the study. The researcher opted to choose 60 as the respondents

of the study to strengthen the results of the study.

INSTRUMENTATION AND VALIDATION

The researcher used researcher-made questionnaire for the purpose of collecting the needed data. The

first part of the questionnaire is about sustainable practices in selected tourist attraction and the second

part contains of tourist behavioral intention. Incorporating random sampling techniques, a systematic

approach was employed in selecting both tourist attractions and participants. A comprehensive inventory

of the attractions was created, and a random selection technique was applied to guarantee a representative

sample for the research. Since the questionnaire is self-made, it was subjected to the face and content

validity after some modifications it showed to the statistics, in research for their comments and

suggestions and to the adviser for final approval and then distributed to the target respondents.

increasingly becoming more conscious of the impact they travel has on the environment and local

communities. Many tourists crave authentic experiences that connect them with local communities and

culture. Supporting locally owned businesses and initiative provides a window into lives of residents and

enriches their travel experience. Tourists are increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainability

and responsible travel practices. Choosing attractions that implement sustainable practices aligns with

their values and contributes to environmental protection. As a result, the table shown above that many

tourists are choosing tourist attractions that prioritize economically sustainable practices.

social skills. The personalities of tourists influence the way they react to unexpected situations during

their travels They can relate and balance their relationship with other people and they can interact

normally with the environment like the local people, staffs and everyone that they enjoy communicating

with. They interact with other people almost all the time and enjoy interacting with other people. Due to

their individual characteristics, different reactions may occur in humans when the same event occurs. It

decreases the harm and change in behavior of tourists when they are properly able to recognize adverse

events.

The findings of the study support the claims of Goh, Muskat, and Tan (2017) suggest that there are

potential impacts of sustainability practices in recruiting and hiring in the hospitality industry, affecting

future hospitality employees and leaders. They further conclude that a good knowledge about

sustainability will enhance students' competitive advantage when entering the tourism and hospitality

workforce, since sustainability will become a much more perennial topic during recruitment and hiring.

effectiveness of educational programs, and endorsement of renewable energy. The consistently elevated

weighted averages, coupled with interpretations such as "strongly agree" and "agree," indicate a

favorable view of these practices.

Hereby, tourists value more the opportunity to make a positive impact on the destinations they explore,

understanding that their travel actions contribute to both environmental preservation and the development

of local communities. Fresh air, efficiently maintained natural areas, and environmentally conscious

amenities enhance a positive and revitalizing experience for travelers.

The allure of a destination increases when visitors can relish untouched surroundings and play a role in

safeguarding them. Places committed to sustainability generally provide a more healthful and pleasant

setting. The findings of the study support the claims of Mendoza (2023), stated that sustainable practices

are crucial for a greener future. Through the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste reduction,

sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and eco-friendly approaches across different sectors, we can

shape a more environmentally conscious world. Achieving this greener future requires collective action,

education, and collaboration, ensuring a sustainable legacy for future generations.

The process of choosing a destination is complex and requires a thorough examination of many variables

FT-CRD-113-00 | STI College Santa Rosa 42

to guarantee a positive and rewarding travel experience. Travelers typically consider both practical and

experiential factors when making their selection. Practical considerations involve travel logistics,

accessibility, and financial constraints, while experiential factors encompass the overall atmosphere,

recreational opportunities, preferred climate, and cultural attractions of the chosen location. Additionally,

social media and online reviews significantly shape perceptions and influence trip decisions. The

destination selection process involves carefully weighing these diverse factors to align the chosen

location with the traveler's tastes, expectations, and trip objectives. Ultimately, making an informed

choice results in a more pleasurable and unforgettable travel experience.

The findings of the study support the claims of Gayeta & Ylagan (2022) stated that in their study

perceived value plays a crucial role in directly influencing tourist satisfaction by mediating between the

quality and satisfaction of tourists in the destination. This mediation is confirmed through four indicators:

price value, social value, and quality.

By examining these elements, travelers can make informed choices that align with their specific needs

and preferences. The careful analysis of accommodation options contributes to a successful and

enjoyable travel experience, ensuring that the chosen lodging not only meets practical requirements but

also enhances the overall quality of the trip. Absolutely, by careful weighing these aspects and making

selections that align with their requirements, interests, and main goal of their trip, travelers can enhance

the likelihood of a happy experience.

The thoughtful consideration of practical and experiential factors, such as budget constraints, location

convenience, amenities, and overall ambience of the chosen accommodation, contributes significantly to

the overall satisfaction of the travel experience. Making well-informed decisions in the selection of

lodging ensures that travelers are not only have a comfortable place to stay but also complements and

enhances the overall enjoyment of their journey. The findings of the study support the claims of

(Aguirre, Ibrahim & Lee, 2021), they stated that the factors of restoration, learning and discovery, and

self-fulfillment are strong indicators of tourists' intentions to revisit a travel destination. When tourists

experience mental and physical relaxation, perceive stress relief, and feel they've recovered from a

destination, they are more inclined to return. This also holds for motives related to learning, discovery,

and self-fulfillment. When tourists believe they've gained new knowledge, excitement, and a sense of

accomplishment during their visit, their desire to revisit is reinforced.

participants do “strongly agree” that traffic in Tagaytay is usually heavy. But some, “strongly agree” that

they still prefer using public or private transportation, wherever they are comfortable of because at the

end of the day what makes Tagaytay City such an appealing city to live in is the fact that it is one of the

few cities in the country that allows you the rustic feel of rural living without taking away the modern

conveniences of modern living. Indeed, retiring in Tagaytay offers you the best of both worlds. The

findings of the study support the claims of (Yu, 2020) Tourists' personalities affect how they react to

unexpected incidents while traveling. The same event can lead to different reactions in people because of

their unique traits. When tourists can recognize negative events accurately, it reduces the harm and

changes in their behavior. To help with this, it's crucial to provide tourists with detailed information from

different sources so they can better understand the event and correct any preconceived ideas.

Dining & Food Choices tourist behavioral intentions, such as their decision to return to a destination or

recommend it to others are heavily influenced by three key factors: ambience, services, and the quality of

the food. Tourists seeks an escape from the noise and pollution, opting for the tranquility and

peacefulness that Tagatay provides. Tourists appreciate personalized service, from helpful tour guides to

attentive restaurant staffs, making them feel valued and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Tourists seek unique and memorable setting to create lasting memories and enhance their overall

satisfaction with Tagaytay. As a result, the table Shown above that many tourists are choosing tourist

tourist behavioral intentions of the respondents are based on ambience, services and the quality of the

food.

As shown on the table above, a significant (2-tailed) value of 0.276 for Sustainable Practices to Tourist

Behavioral Intention and vice versa implies that there is no significant relationship between sustainability

practices to tourist behavioral intention which is greater than the significance value of 0.05. The value

0.05 is commonly referred to as the "significance level" in statistical hypothesis testing. This significance

level is used as a threshold to determine whether the results of a statistical test are considered statistically

significant or not, if the p-value is less than or equal to 0.05, it is considered statistically significant. On

the other hand, if the p-value is greater than 0.05, the results are not considered statistically.

In this study this accept the null hypothesis of the study. This highlight the sustainable practices do not

appear to have a significant influence on tourists' decisions, as evidenced by the lack of a significant

relationship between sustainable practices in terms of social, economic, and environmental and tourist

behavioral intention in terms of destination selection, accommodation choices, mode of transportation,

dining, and food choices within the chosen tourist attractions in the city of Tagaytay, Cavite. The findings

suggest that visitors to Tagaytay might not give social, economic, or environmental sustainability any

thought while selecting travel locations, lodging, modes of transportation, or places to eat.

The findings of the study support the claims of (Zheng et al., 2018) Overall satisfaction is unrelated to

the food environment, sanitary conditions in scenic spots, engagement in entertainment activities, and the

diversity of tourism products.
