1.) A ratio is a mathematical expression that illustrates how two

quantities relate to one another. In order to express one quantity as a
multiple of the other, it compares the numerator and denominator of the
two numbers.
2.) Proportions are mathematical statements that compare the ratios of
two sets of ratios. They allow us to express relationships between
directly proportional quantities. When two sets of ratios are connected
by a direct proportion, the change in one ratio is proportional to the
corresponding change in the other ratio.
