I was pleased to discover your job opening for a Forensic Pathologist in your Office of The Medical Examiner (OME).
The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment's (DDPHE) commitment to Denver's citizen's needs through
their Civic Engagement Boards and the Family Advocate Team (FAST), which provide support to those who have lost a
loved one, has drawn me to this position. I feel that my ample knowledge of forensics, my analytical skills, and my
ability to communicate effectively will make me an asset to your team.
Through my four years at Michigan State University, I earned my B.S. in Forensic Science and dedicated the majority of
my time to volunteering as a local EMT. Volunteering allowed me to gain firsthand experience with medical
terminology, patient care and protocol, along with the ability to think critically and make difficult decisions in high-
stress environments. Furthermore, I spent the first year of my undergraduate studying abroad in Italy. This experience
introduced me to a new culture and offered me the opportunity to learn customs and a language different from my
own. From this, I expanded my capacity to adapt and feel comfortable in all kinds of environments and situations.
Volunteering as an EMT brought to my attention the lack of public knowledge about medical information. The DDPHE
emphasizes their goal of increasing such public knowledge through the OME, and is dedicated to the overall well-being
and safety of Denver citizens. For this, I believe the DDPHE is the perfect department for my skillset as my goals and
perspective closely align with that of OME.
I would like to meet with you and your team in regards to my prospective role in the Forensic Pathologist position in
the OME department. I appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to working with your team. Attached
to this letter is my resume.
Sincerely,
Madison Hoskins
