The Gulf Stream

By Winslow Homer
There was once a ship in the 19th century that was carrying
slaves from Africa all across the Atlantic Ocean to send them to
America. The people inside this gigantic boat believed that they
would go there to get better business opportunities. However,
little did they know that the only reason they would send them
there was only to be slaves of more powerful and rich people.
There was only one young man that knew the whole truth about
this situation. His name was Joe.
One morning while everyone was asleep, Joe woke up to get
some fresh air. As Joe took a walk on the ship, he realized there
was a boat that was hanging on the side of the it. Without second
thoughts he rushed inside and sailed away with the thinking of
freedom.
However, he immediately regretted his mistake. Joe was left
alone in the middle of the ocean with no resources and the
closest land being miles away. Not only that, but the moment he
sailed away he came across some sharks. After hours of Joe
fighting with the sharks, he came out alive. His boat though
didn’t. It got destroyed and only part of it that was left was the
hull.
After a lot of days only eating raw fish and drinking saltwater
Joe finally found some land. It was a small island far away from
any continent like Europe or America. He didn’t care about it.
This island was full of fruits and animals he could eat to survive.
Joe finally found the freedom he dreamed of.
