LABORATORY REPORT

CLOUD IN A BOTTLE
Objective:
To simulate the formation of clouds using available materials
II. Materials
 Clear Plastic bottle with cap (1.5 L)
 Erlenmeyer flask
 Clay
 Foot pump with inflation tube
 Rubbing Alcohol
III. Procedure
1. Pour about 50 ml of rubbing alcohol into the bottle.
2. Carefully swirl the alcohol to coat the inside of the bottle.
3. Connect the rubber stopper to the inflation tube
4. Insert the inflation tube with the rubber stopper into the opening of the bottles. Make
sure that they are tightly attached to the opening of the bottle.
5. Push the foot pump at least 8 to 20 times and then carefully remove the inflation tube
with the rubber stopper from the bottle. Observe the bottle.
IV. Questions for Analysis
1. Explain your observation. How does pumping affect the air molecules inside the
bottle?

LABORATORY REPORT
DEMONSTRATING PROPERTIES OF SOUND AND LIGTH WAVES

I. Objectives

To understand the properties of sound and light

II. Materials
 Table
 Bucket of water
 Two metal spoons
 Powerful flashlight
 Larger Beaker
 Medicine dropper
 Stirrer
 Liquid cow’s milk
III. Procedure
A. Sound
1. Place your ear on a table. Ask your partner to make sounds on the other
end of the table by tapping it.
2. Dip your ear in a bucket of water while your partner dips two spoons and
begins to tap them underwater.
B. Light
1. Fill the beaker with water until it is almost filled.
2. Add milk to the water one drop at time and then stir.
3. As you keep on adding milk to the water, shine the light from the flashing
until the light appears red when viewed through the beaker.
IV. Questions for Analysis
A. Sound
1. What did you observe when your teammates tapped the end of the table?
How about when dipped your ears in the water as your teammates tapped
the spoons?
