Part: [ | Design of spinning machines Textile De Ce 3” year term exam Time: 2hrs Full mark: 60 +| * Please answer each question at the beginning of page in the answer sheet. * Illustrate your answer by means of diagrammatic sketches as you can * Assume any required data * Answer the following questions: 1- A drafting system 3/3 is mounted on a roving frame in which the drafting force equal 80N, the total draft equal 15, the back draft equal 2.5 and the delivery speed equal 21.5 m/min. Find: the energy consumed by the drafting system if you are given: * Radius of bottom roller: 30mm. * Radius of bottom roller bosses: 9mm. * The gravity forces of bottom rollers: 550N for 1 line, 500N for 2" line and 450 N for 3 line. * Top roller loading : Q;=6220 N, Q.=5852 N and Q.=4872.1 N. “The gravity forces of top rollers: G, = Gz = Gy =31.87 N. * The coefficient of friction due to sliding motion f= 0.15. * The frictional arm of rollering k= 0.028 m. The frictional torque in the top roller bosses= 0.6 N.m. (20 Marks) 2-a- Explain mathematically how the eccentricity in the bottom roller ofthe drafting system leads to speed variation of the top roller. (15 Marks) b- Discuss the conditions of good rolling of top roller by bottom roller. (6 Marks) 3-a- Study the air resistance power by the flyer on the roving frames. (5 Marks) b- A differential gear train in which the arm takes its motion from the main shaft, full bobbin power equal 280 watt, the main shaft speed equal 1200 r.p.m, flyer speed equal 0.9 of the bobbin speed and the transmition ratio from the bobbin to differential equal 7/10 . Calculate: a- The input speed to differential from the bottom cone. b- The input power in watt from the bottom cone to the bobbin. Time: 2 hours Date: 9/1/2019 Code: TXE 6312 Full Mark:60 Number of pages: 2 Please answer 3 only of the following questions: Question number one [20 degrees, A close coiled helical compression spring fur a service load ranging from 2000 N to 3000 N suffered an axial deflection of 9 mm. (a) Estimate: - spring rate - minimum deflection - maximum deflection, minimum stored energy - maximum stored energy. (b) Determine: ~ wire diameter - spring diameter - number of coils - angular deflection. (c) Assuming a compression spring index of 6 , a pe stress intensity of $20 Mpa, and a modulus of ri kN/mm? estimate: - Wahil's stress factor - minimum torsional shear stress - maximum torsional shear stress - minimum direct shear stress - maximum direct shear stress. () Draw a fully dimensioned sketch of the spring . Question number two [20 degrees; Two helical springs of the same material (permissible shear stress is 5800 KN/em?, and modulus of rigidity is 10000 KN/mm’), and fre! length are used to make a concentric spring. The concentric spring is compressed 2.8 cm by an axial load of 360 KN. Assuming that spring index of both springs is 7 determine for each spring: lozd - stored energy angular deflection - number of coils - wire diameter - spring diameter. Page 1 Question number three (20 degrees]: Design and draw a right-angled bell crank lever to raise a vertical load of 8560 N at the longer arm end. The arm lengths are 60 cm and 16 cm. The permissible stresses in shear and tension for the lever and pin materials must be below 6000 N/cm? and 8500 N/cm’, respectively. Maximum bearing stress of pins is 15 N/mm’. Question number four [20 degree: a) Draw a helical spring of circular wire and -in terms of load, dimensions, and material- express: - max, shear stress, ~ angular deflection, - spring rate, - energy stored, - yolunte of spring wire, - axial deflection, and - length of spring wire. b) Draw leaf springs and -in terms of Joad, dimensions, and material- express: - bending stress, - bending defiection, - bending stress in laminated leaves, - load shared by full- length and graduated leaves, - deflection in full- length and graduated leaves, and - load in clip bolt required io equalize stress in leaves. ©) Assume reasonable values and estimate factors in a), and b). Question number five [20 degree. Draw a sketch for a cranked lever of the following dimensions: * handle length = 309 nun, * lever arm length = 400 mm, and rhang of fle journal = 190 mm, {b) Determine handle diameter, lever arm cross- section, and journal diameter if: effort = 400 N, bending stress = 50 N/mm’, and * sheag stress = 40 N/mm’, * oy With best wishes of Ass.
