Our comprehensive ATPL Aeroplane Full-Time Ground School enables students
to concentrate on studying the four most difficult subjects during their stay with
us and complete the other three subjects at a less stressful me!
This op on has proven to be very successful and popular with students, as it
maximises your chance of success and minimises me spent away from home.
The ATPL(A) Full- me Course involves six weeks of intensive full- me study,
working from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. You will also be expected to
do homework each night and over the weekend.
While me spent in class is intensive, our course format allows as much me
as possible for many detailed revision tests. On comple on of each subject

designed to ensure you become familiar with the style and workload involved in the actual
CASA Exams and help you become familiar with the layout and format of the exams. The
sole purpose of our Prac ce CyberExam system is to help you determine if you are fully
prepared to a empt the actual CASA PEXO Exams for each subject.
Our Prac ce CyberExams have proven to be very popular with our students. Since our
system was first created, we have had over 5,000 different aeroplane and helicopter pilots
a empt our exams and approximately 25,000 Prac ce CyberExams are sat via our system
every year.
Addi onal Items Required
Our course fees DO NOT include CASA Exam Fees, ASPEQ Delivery Fees, or Supply Shop
items.
Addi onal items required are: note paper, pens, pencils, ruler, rubber, highlighters, dividers,
compass, post-it-notes, naviga on protractor, Jeppesen CR-3 or APR CR-6 circular naviga on
computers, Calculator, ERC High and Low Charts, TAC Charts, CAR’s, CAO’s, AIP and ERSA
with RDS. The Jeppesen Airways Manual/Charts can be used as a subs tute for AIP/ERSA/
ERC‘s, however where there are differences between CASA and Jeppesen Documents, the
CASA Documents are considered the defini ve reference.
Naviga on equipment required is a Circular Flight Computer and a naviga on protractor.
The Jeppesen CR-3 or ASA E6-B circular naviga on computers are the largest of the
circular style. You can use the smaller Jeppersen CR-2 and Jeppersen CR-5, however the
smaller scales make it much harder to achieve the accuracy required for the exams so we
recommend you use the larger Jeppesen CR-3 or ASA E6-B circular naviga on computers.
Slide style naviga on computers are not suitable for ATPL(A) exam study.
For all subjects where an electronic calculator is required to answer CASA PEXO Exam
ques ons, you are required to take in your own personal calculator during CASA PEXO
Exams. We have stocks of Aurora DT210 desktop calculators available in our supply shop
and you can purchase one of these to use each day during your study.
Important Note:: Departure and Approach Procedures (DAP) East and West is a permi ed reference for the CASA
Air Law PEXO Exam, however the main topic covered by the Air Law syllabus that requires reference to DAP East
and West is noise curfew procedures and requirements. If you do not already have DAP East and West and wish
to avoid the considerable cost of purchasing these documents, you should familiarise yourself with noise curfew
procedures before si ng the CASA Air Law PEXO Exam.

will learn to plot Cri cal Points and the Point of Safe Diversion on
ERC and how to calculate track intercepts without a chart using basic
trigonometry.

covering BGT (Basic Gas Turbines), EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument

important aspects will be viewed. Aircra Hydraulic and Electrical

We start with a discussion of the effects on jet engine performance
and aircra aerodynamics, of cruising at high al tude and high speed.
True Air Speed to Mach Number conversions, and other important
considera ons when flying near the speed of sound are also explained.
Once you fully understand these concepts you are ready to start Flight
Planning. This is not only the most interes ng, but also the most
complex and me consuming sec on of the CASA syllabus. Step by
step you will become familiar with the Boeing 727 Handbook, so by
the end of the first week you are confidently planning RPT flights,
including calcula on of the PNR and ETP for Normal Opera ons, One
Engine Inopera ve Flight and Depressurised Cruise.
We also cover Yaw Damper failure, Buffet Boundary considera ons
and Alternate aerodrome requirements. You will eventually feel
confident working through challenging problems. The second week
of Flight Planning is devoted to consolida on and revision with CASA
style revision tests and Prac ce CyberExams. We no longer offer a
Flight Planning CASA PEXO Exam session at the end of the course as
Nathan recommends spending more me comple ng extra revision to
ensure you are ready for the exam.

To simplify the enrolment process,
we can make all your accommoda on
arrangements for you for the dura on
of your stay. We make it our priority to
ensure every student is comfortable
and content with their accommoda on.
Accommoda on is subject to availability,
so booking early increases your available
accommoda on op ons. While every
effort is made to ensure all students
accommoda on preferences are sa sfied,

Our courses are conducted in our
purpose built, air condi oned classroom
facility at the Sunshine Coast Airport,
Mudjimba, Queensland. For those few
minutes of relaxa on during the course,
the Sunshine Coast has every imaginable
facility available for the tourist, including
kilometres of uninterrupted beaches just
minutes from the classroom.

located at Mudjimba Beach is very easy.
By road it is only 100km north of Brisbane
and just 8km north of Maroochydore.

Poolside at Atlantis
693 David Low Way - Mudjimba Beach
693 David Low Way is only 800 metres from our
classrooms and directly across the road from a
shopping centre which includes Coles and 20 other
specialty stores (including, bakery, chemist, cafes,
newsagent and Australia Post outlet). This is budget
style, room only accommoda on sharing this large
fully self-contained house with other students on
the course. Rooms are available from $40 per night
(see following price guide).
The house contains a double size kitchen which
has recently been fully renovated, 3 living areas,
large laundry, off street car parking and front/rear
verandahs. Each bedroom contains either a double
or king single bed (pillows and a doona included),
wardrobe, study desk and ceiling fan. You will need
to provide your own linen (sheets, pillow cases and
bath towels). The house does not have internet
access.
All of the Premium Rooms are air condi oned with
their own private ensuite. Standard rooms have
access to a shared bathroom and do not have air
condi oning.

Accommoda on Locality Guide
Both Atlan s and the Marcoola Motel are just across
the road to local services such as a supermarket,
bakery, doctor, chemist, cafes, tavern, restaurants,
service sta on and bus stops.
Access to Maroochydore (the closest major town
centre) is approximately 10 minutes away. This is
where the closest ASPEQ examina on centre is
located.
Noosa to the North and Caloundra to the South are
both within 25 minutes drive.

 CASA Examinations
In each (Aeroplane and Helicopter) ATPL exam, there are seven parts. Each part covers one or two aeronau cal subject(s) detailed in the respec ve
syllabus. Due to the syllabus scope for each part and the me involved, each part is examined separately. Therefore each of the (Aeroplane and Helicopter)
ATPL part-exams is an individual exam. The part-exams are commonly referred to as subject exams but essen ally each subject exam is just a part-exam
of the ATPL (Aeroplane or Helicopter) exam.

Candidates may choose to sit subject exams in any order they prefer, and in any number in a day, subject to the sessions available at an approved venue
for that day. A candidate passing a subject exam is awarded a ‘temporary’ pass for that subject. When all seven subject exams have been passed within a
required period (read following paragraph), the candidate is awarded a full ATPL exam credit (either for Aeroplane or Helicopter).

Examina on Pre-Requisites
The pre-qualifica on requirements for the ATPL(A) or (H) is a pass in the Australian CPL(A) or (H) theory examina on or a CPL(A) of (H) Licence. You will be
unable to book an examina on unless you meet this requirement. It is essen al for overseas students to contact the CASA Flight Crew Examina on and/
or Licencing Sec ons to confirm they meet this requirement prior to booking their CASA ATPL examina ons.

Perpetual Validity Period

The ATPL theory credit once issued, will remain valid indefinitely. This may be reviewed at a later date.

Two Year Window

CASR Part 61.225 (2) requires that a person passes all parts of an examina on within a period of 2 years.

Candidates commencing a ‘bundle’ of subject-parts on or a er 1st September 2014 should plan their studies and exams so that all subject-parts are
completed within two years of their first pass. If at the end of two years, a candidate has not passed all subjects within their bundle, then the status of
individual subject passes will progressively change to expired on the second anniversary of the pass date of that subject and must be passed again.

Pass Mark Required

The pass mark for each examina on is 70%, except for the Air Law where the pass mark is 80%.

CASA/ASPEQ PEXO Fees

The CASA exam fee is for the service provided by CASA via their web-based delivery system. The ASPEQ exam delivery fee is charged for each examina on
subject required. The fee structure is based around the length of the examina on subject as this determines the amount of computer me used to deliver
the subject. The fee schedule is as follows:

When and How to Book for a CASA PEXO Exam

All CASA Flight Crew Examina ons can only be sat in Australia and are booked through Assessment Services Ltd (ASPEQ).

CASA and ASPEQ PEXO Exam fees are NOT included in our course fees for Full Time Ground School or Distance Learning Courses. If you are a ending our
Full Time Ground School Course we have pre-booked CASA PEXO Exam sessions for our students at the end of each subject (except for Flight Planning
which we recommend you sit a er further revision is completed once the course finishes).

Our pre booked sessions mean you do not need to book your own CASA PEXO Exams for subjects you do in class with us.

You must book your own CASA PEXO Exams for any Distance Learning subjects you study.

Before booking any CASA PEXO Exam, candidates need to be sure of their eligibility and ming before making a booking.

You must ensure you fully understand Candidate Responsibili es and you have the required Pre-requisite Qualifica ons before you book an exam. These
can be found on ASPEQ’s website. ASPEQ have a strict policy on refunds and transfers to other si ng dates.

In par cular, overseas students should note that they must hold a CASA CPL(A) or have a pass in all seven parts of the CASA CPL(A) theory exam to meet
pre requisite qualifica ons for si ng CASA ATPL(A) PEXO Exams.

When booking exams candidates should be aware of the retraining periods required a er exam failures and make allowances for this. ASPEQ recommend
that you do not book for more than three exams at a me to ensure there are no transfer fees or that exam fees are not forfeited.
