FAMILY AND PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION IN EARLY CHILDHOOD (SPED-
63952-001)
2.8.24

If I were the administrator of an educational program, I would use a distributive

leadership style. This style of leadership fosters effective partnerships and positive interactions.

It also enables other professionals and members within the population to take on a leadership

role and provides opportunities to enhance and promote better outcomes overall.

Utilizing this style of leadership will show that I am placing value on the importance of

positive interactions across systems and strong family partnerships by increasing the leadership

capacity of other professionals or teachers and strengthen the impact of educational leaders. It

allows for everyone within the educational population to foster a culture that truly reflects the

beliefs, values and expectations of the educator subsystem.

Distributed leadership encourages idea sharing and helps to generate additional solutions

to identified challenges. This in turn encourages more effective and responsive decision-making

and helps to develop a greater sense of openness and trust in the population. This type of

positive interaction would enable families to feel directly and indirectly supported.

In thinking about distributive leadership further, I would identify various teams and

leaders within these educator subsystems to provide focus on core areas of the educator

subsytem. Specifically, I would identify grade level teams, department teams, a statistics team, a

professional development team, a community partnership team, and a parent support team. The

use of these teams would facilitate and foster leadership amongst the population and focus on
areas of need while promoting positive interactions through ongoing collaboration and

partnerships.
