Very common Questions
For fresh graduates as well as for those with work exp.
1. Usually your PI starts with the Question:
Tell me about yourself. This should be similar to your latest CV and your answers (if any). Keep it
precise, informative and specific to your academic pursuits with 1-2 extra-curriculars.

Here are some more common ones…

2. They may ask about your short term and long term goals. Do give this a thought before PIs.

3. Why do you want to study for an MBA? OR, why do an MBA after Engg? Why not M. Tech?

4. Three words which can describe you.

5. Your strengths and weaknesses. Prepare 2-3 for each. Be sincere, not diplomatic.

6. About XYZ college.

7. Tell us about your city.

(contd. On the next slide)
8. If you are not selected here, what is your Plan B? (Have a Plan B)

9. Specific skills you are looking for from an MBA.

10. Some questions based on general knowledge.

11. What other calls do you have? Rank them. (Go prepared with this too

12. They also might ask you about someone you admire, idolise, etc. and why.
Tips for fresh graduates
1. Prepare to answer questions on all your main undergrad
subjects and at least one favourite subject.

2. Go prepared with some information on and the history of

your college.

3. Think about any achievement you have accrued in sports or

during cultural events.

4. Think also about something interesting, unique or special

that you have not mentioned in the CV.

5. There might be questions on Maths, such as diff. or

statistics, so revision is necessary.

6. Prepare a narrative of your journey as an undergrad.

Tips for those who are working
1. Prepare very well with in-depth knowledge about your work. It is possible that your PI starts with questions related to
your job, with follow-up questions on your answers.

2. Study up a little about the history of your company.

3. Do think about what you will say about why you are pausing to study, switching fields, etc. and why you’re not
continuing at your job. Relate this to your ‘why MBA now?’ answer.

4. You may be asked to discuss a specific project of which you have been a part.

5. They might ask you what you will bring to the table from your work exp. and how it contributes to an MBA classroom.

6. Prepare some detail on any incident at your workplace where you handled things well and/or learned something.
Some general advice/suggestions
1. Remember, every word you say or write in the form can be made into a question. So
study your submitted documents well and match your details in your answers.

2. Try to create an interesting and thought-provoking introductory answer, so that they can
cross-question you on some of those points and help you speak more about yourself.

3. Go through all the recent events like Israel-Palestine war, Lakshadweep-Maldives, etc. and
some events related to your field. It’s not necessary to have opinions, but information is
required.

4. Know your city and your surroundings well enough to carry a conversation about them.

5. Avoid using tactics to fool, intimidate, redirect or in any way manipulate the panel. They
are there to give a fair chance. Respect the process and be sincere in your attempts.

6. Avoid faking things and lying, because they are experienced in these interviews and may
catch you out. Things can get very awkward. Be yourself and that’s always good enough.
While this is not an exhaustive list of questions and tips, it is enough to get you
started. Once you get down to making your notes, you will notice that:

- You are organising your thoughts better

- You are trying to explore yourself from various angles
- You are discovering all the ways you can demonstrate your knowledge
- You are understanding how you properly respond to questions that are similar
but differently framed

With this, go ahead and get started. PIs are your face-to-face interactions with
people who will make a decision on your next few years. It is an important stage
that can also be a bit intimidating. Remember to breathe. Remember to rely on
knowledge and not chit-chat. And remember to be confident in who you are,
because that’s the only thing you can be sure of.

We wish you all the best for every personal interview and group discussion
round and hope that you sail through these events with ease and confidence.
We’re on your side.
