# Q7.Short Answer Questions:

b. What does a plant need to perform photosynthesis?

Ans: A plant needs water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to perform photosynthesis

e. How are the leaves that have fallen from the trees are useful?
Ans: Leaves that have fallen from the trees are useful as these leaves can be collected in a
pit where they rot(decompose) and turn into manure after a few weeks. Manure makes soil
fertile and helps the plants to grow well.

# Q8.Long Answer Questions:

a. Explain the process of photosynthesis with the help of diagram.

Ans. Photosynthesis is the process by which the leaves of green plants make their food
with water and carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight. The roots of a plant take in water
from the soil and the stem carries it upwards to the leaves.Pores in the leaves absorb
carbon dioxide from the air.Using this water and carbon dioxide, leaves, through the green
pigment present in them, produce food in the form of sugar.

# Q9 HOTS:
a. How do we make sprouted pulses?
Ans: Pulses are sprouted by soaking in water for 5-6 hours, then water is drained and
pulses are kept covered for overnight.

b. Do all plants make their food by photosynthesis? Which type of plants would not
be able to photosynthesize?
Ans: Most plants make their food by photosynthesis. For photosynthesis, plants need water
air, sunlight and green leaves. Thus, plants that do not have green leaves cannot make
their own food.
