RUN DOWN BRINGS THE FALCONS A 2-1 WIN AGAINST THE BLAZERS
By: Katie Tyler

(Grantham, Pa)---- In the first game of the doubleheader against the Hood College Blazers, the
Messiah University softball team secured a 2-1 win. Hannah Dyer's steal at home in the bottom
of the seventh inning sealed the victory.

How It Happened

The Blazers started the first inning with two hits, the Falcons quickly putting up their defense to
secure the last out of the inning. The Falcons were quickly shut down in the bottom of the first
with three strikeouts, and one on base.

Lydia Collison continued to hastily shut down the Blazers in the top of the second inning, with
the Blazers firing back in the bottom with three consecutive strikeouts.

Brielle Rosario dove for a pop-up in the third, and just missed it, as the Blazers get on base. The
Blazers would continue in the top of the third to score their first run through an RBI single,
securing their 1-0 lead against the Falcons.

Dyer leads the Falcons in the top of the fifth with another outfield catch. Later, she would go on
to secure the last out of the top with a nail-biting running grab at the wall. The bottom of the fifth
would have Kandice Schlabach rip one out to center field, pulling in a run to tie the game 1-1.

The Falcons and Blazers would have a 3 up, 3 down moment in the sixth inning. The top of the
seventh inning would bring a quick shutout of the Blazers.

The bottom of the seventh would become a nail-biting moment as Alexa Burger pops one to the
outfield, finding herself in a run down at second base. Dyer would quickly use that moment to
steal home, securing the win for the Falcons.

The Falcons continue on to host Dickinson College Red Devils on Thursday, April 11th at 4:00
pm.
