ABSTRACT

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood

that is characterized by unstable behavior, difficulty controlling emotions, and
time to grow and develop biologically, psychologically, and sociologically.
Online games are a form of games that are linked via an internet network, games
can be played using computers, laptops, mobile phones, and other devices. Sleep
quality is a state of sleep experienced by one person which will result in a feeling
of freshness and health after waking up. Anxiety that arises because of playing
online games too often results in students being lazy in studying. Those who
experience anxiety and are afraid to deal with it will prefer to take it out on other
things such as playing online games.
Objective: The study aimed at determining whether there was a relationship
between anxiety levels and sleep quality in adolescents who play online games at
Kalialang Village, Wonosobo.
Method: The study was quantitative research with a correlation method using a
cross-sectional research design, involving 50 adolescents aged 10-20 years in
Kalialang Village, Wonosobo. The sampling technique used was total sampling
using a questionnaire sheet and data analysis was done through the Kendall Tau
test.
Results: The results of the study showed that the majority had moderate anxiety
with 58% and the sleep quality was mostly poor with 82%.
Conclusion and Suggestion: There was a relationship between anxiety and sleep
quality in adolescents with a significance value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05. It
is recommended to provide information to adolescents regarding anxiety and sleep
quality. Adolescents should be able to minimize playing games excessively. For
parents, they need to pay more attention to their children to see whether they often
play online games. For future researchers, they can study other factors that
influence anxiety, sleep quality, and respondents’ characteristics.
