Some films are designed to make people think, while other films are designed to

entertain people. Discuss both types and give your opinion.

Nowadays, in modern society, films have become a powerful medium for

entertainment, storytelling, and cultural expression. With the advent of technology, the
impact of films extends beyond mere amusement. Consequently, there are movies made
with the intention of entertaining viewers as well as ones meant to provoke thought. Thus,
how do these two categories of movies affect us?

To my mind, the role of films in people's lives is multifaceted. First of all, they provide a
temporary escape from the stresses of daily life. Moreover, films serve as a window into
diverse cultures, broadening our understanding of the world. Nevertheless, excessive
consumption of films can lead to addiction and affect our productivity and interpersonal
relationships.

On the one hand, thought-provoking films, with their intricate plots and profound
themes, challenge societal norms and encourage critical thinking. For example, "Fight Club,"
an American film based on the novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, explores
themes of identity and the consequences of blindly following societal norms. So, it
illustrates how such films can provoke reflection on the complexities of the human
experience.

On the other hand, entertainment-focused films aim to help viewers escape from
reality. These movies, which often contain humor, serve as a source of joy and relaxation.
For instance, "Shrek", an animated film, combines all of these, making it both entertaining
and lighthearted. So, it shows there is a need for movies of this nature since they let viewers
have fun and temporarily escape reality.

To sum up, I think that these types of films have a significant influence on us because
they make us think critically, allow to escape reality, and make us reflect profoundly on
human issues.
