Job Title: ECDE Teacher

Position Reports To: Leap Preschool Director
Location: Mai Mahiu, Kenya
Salary Range: Ksh. 25,000-Ksh. 30,000/Month
Job Description:
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the ECDE teacher is to assist the lead teacher in all aspects of the
children's daily care and education routines at the school. This includes assisting with supervision,
management, and guidance of a classroom of small children, as well as preparation for daily activities.
The ECDE teacher reports to the Leap Preschool Director. The lead teachers and administrators also
provide direct support and supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning
experiences.
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
• Prepare classroom for activities & use relevant technology to support instruction.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Observe & evaluate students’ performance and development.
• Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Perform certain pastoral duties including student support, counselling students with
academic problems and providing student encouragement.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities,
clubs, and student organizations.
• Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings, and scheduled
trainings.
• Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods.
Make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
• Communicate, consult, and co-parent with other members of the school staff,
including those having posts of special responsibility, and parents/guardians to
ensure LEAP Preschool does what is in the best interest of its students.
• Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements for the Role:
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education
• C+ in KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education)
• Experience of 3-5 years
Other Requirements:
• Willing to work under high pressure and be flexible.
• Must demonstrate passion for teaching and children.
