General information

Introduction

- We at EFFER thank you for the trust you have placed in us and remind you that your crane is
the result of the constant product improvement that our technicians pursue continually, thanks
to ongoing research in the lifting sector.
- This publication must be read and understood by every operator interacting with
the crane.
- Our Service network is at your disposal to resolve situations whose solution is not clear in this
publication.

With regard to topics not relating to EFFER product (e.g. lifting accessories and asso-
ciated controls, safety and training instructions, etc.) helpful tips are reported in some
sections, for which EFFER disclaims any express or implied warranty or liability. EFFER
shall not be liable for damages of any kind regarding the information or procedures
reported. This information is not a substitute for laws and shall not restrict or alter the
obligation to comply with federal and state laws and local rules.

The manual supplies instructions that EFFER S.p.A. considers absolutely necessary for manoeu-
vring the loader crane and maintaining its efficiency.
The manual supplies information on the following subjects:
1. description of the safety regulations, explanation of the controls, how to operate avoiding risk
situation for the operator and exposed persons;
2. constructional features, technical data and description;
3. functioning;
4. frequency and descriptions of the routine maintenance that may be carried out by the operator,
and information on the frequency of extraordinary maintenance;
5. guarantee and compilation of the check records and coupons;
6. disposal of the materials comprising the crane.

Notes This manual gives instructions for a crane installed on a truck. Instructions for
installation on ships or fixed structures are dealt with in separate publications.

The purpose of the manual is to inform and train the personnel operating in contact with the crane.
Each person must acquire the necessary information for carrying out his job. The table below
lists, indicatively and on the basis of the person’s qualification, the chapter he must refer to. Each
person may have more than one qualification (e.g. the driver, handling operator and disposal
operator may be the same person):

For the purchaser ...


- The manufacturer is responsible for the efficiency of the product when it leaves the factory and
for its conformity with the declared standards.
- The installer is the company that materially carries out installation of the crane with the truck
and is therefore responsible for it.
In particular the installer is responsible for:
- components used for installation;
- the crane’s conformity with the regulations in force in the country of use with regard to
technical, safety and road circulation matters;
- regularisation of the paperwork for CE certification of the crane-vehicle installation.
As a result of the crane-truck coupling the installer may be obliged to reduce the crane’s indicated
capacity. In this case the installer must supply new load diagrams to replace both the stickers on
the crane and the diagrams in this manual.
- Always make sure beforehand that you have understood the use and maintenance instructions.
Failure to observe the standards contained therein releases the Manufacturer from any
responsibility for damage to persons and/or property.
- The use of spare parts that are not original or authorised by EFFER, and even slight modifications
or tampering, release the Manufacturer from any responsibility for use or functioning and the
safety of persons, animals and/or property.
- Installation accessories (pumps, power take-offs etc.), any lifting equipment and units (buckets,
winches etc.), control devices (remote/radio-controls, refrigerators etc.) and anything else that may
be supplied by the authorised EFFER installer, must be accompanied by the instructions. Check
the contents and study the prescriptions in depth before operating with the crane.
- Depending on the main standards in force from Nation to Nation, or of contractual choices
(optionals), some of the devices shown and described in the manual may not be present
on the crane.

Hirer
Person who, when he is also the operator, has hired the truck with the loader crane installed.
Basic rig
Crane without optional parts or accessories.
Work area (or zone) A
Area where the crane can work under conditions of maximum stability and therefore at top perform-
ance
Work area (or zone) B
Area where the crane can work under conditions of reduced stability and therefore at reduced per-
formance.
Bucket
Item of equipment for lifting aggregates, consisting of mobile steel valves hinged to each other.
Power circuit
System transmitting energy or force used for moving any element of the crane (hydraulic, electric,
pneumatic etc).
Counter-chassis (synonym: false chassis)
Metalwork element interposed between the crane and the vehicle chassis.
Manufacturer
Producer of the loader crane.
Stabilising elements
Parts of the crane which contribute to stabilising the machine (movement controls, stabilisation ele-
ments, stabilisers, foot jacks).
Telescopic element (synonym: telescopic extension or extension)
Grouping of two or more tubes which slide one into the other so that the element can be extended
or retracted.
Hydraulic extension
Extension or retraction through hydraulic action.
Telescopic extension

JIB (JIB or Aerial )
See fly-jib.
Employed worker
Person suitably trained and informed who works as an employee with the specific duties of driving
and operating the crane.
Moment limiter
Capacity control device connected to the safety actions envisaged in the case of exceeding capac-

The crane and vehicle unit.
Moment
Product of the load by the outreach.

Operator
Person/s handling and positioning the load, in charge of routine maintenance and cleaning of the
crane.
Crane operator
Person who moves and positions loads with the crane.
Aerial part
Part of the crane including base, slewing ring or rack, column, arms, hydraulic extensions, fly-jib and
the controls that activate them.
Ground part
Part of the machine including counter-chassis, stabilisers, foot jacks and the controls that activate
them.
Exposed person
Any person who is wholly or partly in a dangerous area.
Owner
The person who owns the truck with the crane installed.
Maximum load
The maximum load the crane can lift in relation to the outreach. The values are shown in the load
diagram.
Safety manager
The owner and/or hirer and/or the employed worker, together with the site manager if lifting opera-
tions (loading/unloading) are carried out in areas classified as building sites, industrial sites or places
of public or private access.
Risk
Result of the combination of probability and degree of seriousness of possible wounds or health
damage in a dangerous situation.
Outreach
Distance between the column axis and load axis.
Extensions
Term used to describe a telescopic element activated hydraulically.
Fly-jib (synonym: Jib)
Articulated extension inserted into the last extension of the basic crane and connected to the crane
power circuit to increase lifting distance.
Vehicle
Means of transport such as: trucks, road tractors, special use vehicles, articulated trucks and trailers,
homologated for road circulation, on which the crane is installed.
Winch (synonym: capstan)
Simple machine for load lifting, consisting of a cylindrical part around which a cable is wound, linked
to a motor.
Danger zone (or operational zone)
Any area within and/or near a crane in which there is a continuously present risk for the safety and
health of exposed persons.

CAUTION
If you do not know the rated voltage of the electric line, always maintain a minimum
distance of 7 meters. It is however recommended to increase the minimum distance
to 20 meters because of the difficulty of real assessment, possible deformation and
crane swinging during work and possible sudden rushes of wind..

Prescriptions for use

In the case of wind, both electrical cables and the crane may oscillate with sharp movements. These
sudden movements can dangerously decrease the distance between the crane and the electric
lines, thus exposing the structure to possible electric shocks. Therefore, it is advisable to increase
the safety distance to 20 meters.

Provisions in case of electric shock


Electrical discharge is a danger to the life of all exposed personnel, so the crane, its accessories and
its load should be kept at the distances given in the table below.

If there is contact between the crane (or load) and electrical cables, or if the distance between crane
(or load) and electrical cables is reduced (due to wind, oscillations etc.) and dangerous discharges
occur, you must:
- keep personnel and animals in the area at a distance of at least 10 metres from the crane, the

- if you are inside the 10 metre radius you must leave the area by jumping with your legs closed
together, and if this is not possible you must remain stationary until specialised help arrives;
- avoid contact with the crane, truck and/or load;

Operator aptitude, knowledge and training requirements must comply with standard ISO 9926-1. The
concepts are summarised below.
The owner is responsible for checking, including through examinations or aptitude tests, that:
- the crane operator has been declared suitable after a professional medical check-up;
- the operator is physically intact and in full possession of his mental faculties, aware and responsible
with regard to the dangers that may arise during use of a crane, and able to keep his head even
in high stress situations;
- the operator responsible for the functioning and/or maintenance of the crane is in good health and
does not suffer from disorders that might manifest themselves suddenly;
- the operator has good eyesight (even if this results from the use of glasses or contact lenses) and
good hearing, fast reflexes, optimal coordination and does not suffer from vertigo:

EFFER, in agreement with the main regulations on safety, suggests the following behavioural stand-
ards:
Each worker, on the basis of the training and instruction received from the employer, must take care
not only of his own safety but also that of others, meaning those persons who might be affected by
his actions or omissions in the Workplace. With view to achieving these aims, workers must:
- make correct use of machinery, equipment, tools, dangerous substances, transport equipment
and other means;
- make correct use of personal protection devices supplied and, after use, return them to their
place;
- not break, change or arbitrarily move safety devices but use them correctly;
- report to the employer or safety manager any situation which, on reasonable grounds, might be
considered a serious and immediate danger to health and safety; any defects in the protection
systems should likewise be reported;
- contribute, in conformity with national practice and together with the employer and/or safety man-
ager, to carrying out all the duties, or fulfilling all the obligations imposed by the competent authority
for the protection of workers’ health and for their safety in the Workplace;
- contribute, in conformity with national practice and together with the employer and/or safety man-
ager, to the creation of safe and risk-free environmental and working conditions, in such a way as
to guarantee workers’ safety and health in their field of activity.

Further, the employer must:


- check that the directives and relevant safety standards are known to the workers and/or their
representatives in the company and/or on the premises;
- check that the workers and/or their representatives in the company and/or on the premises observe
the directives and relevant safety regulations;
- supply all necessary information for safeguarding the operator’s safety and health;
- observe the safety and health regulations in force.

This publication must be kept, in perfect state, near the machine and completely at
the disposal of anyone who asks for it, as long as the applicant is in some way linked
to the functioning of the machine itself.

If you use the radio control, the main hydraulic control bank becomes an emergency

After the hydraulic connection has been carried out, the remote/radio control (push-
button panel) must not be left unattended or abandoned.

Should it be necessary to momentarily lay down the push-button panel you must:
- first check that you have disengaged the radio-control function;
- leave it in a protected place accessible only to authorised personnel.

Notes Always use the push-button panel support strap in order to execute precise and
uniform movements.

CAUTION
Since the radio-control is a single control station, the main hydraulic distributor
becomes an emergency station. This station does not and must not have control levers
inserted in the individual elements, this in order to avoid simultaneously handling the
crane from different stations.
The use of hydraulic cranes from control bank is only permitted to skilled personnel
who intervene only in emergency situations to close the crane.

It is always helpful to have a charged battery for the radio control always available in

Each operator must carry out the duties assigned:
Crane operator
- Before using the crane on sites or in industrial areas he must ask the area safety manager
about any dangers present in the crane manoeuvring zone and any dangers that could arise
from use of the crane;
- select the place to operate and where to park the vehicle with the crane;
- cordon off the work zone to avoid unauthorised access;
- sling loads with cables and/or chains or with lifting accessories;
- evaluate the trajectory to be carried out with the load and the relevant degree of danger posed
by the presence of any obstacles;
- carry out operations of lifting, laying and releasing the load;
- carry out operations of folding the crane to carry out transport in maximum safety conditions;
- visually inspect the crane for any anomalies;
- check state and legibility of load diagrams and plates attached to the crane.

Vehicle driver
- Checks for the correct idle position of the crane and the proper insertion of mechanical locks
fitted before moving the truck.
Routine maintenance technician
- Check the crane’s state of preservation, wear on the sliding elements (e.g. skids on the arms),
flexible tubing and any leaks in the power circuit.

in this manual;
- report unforeseen situations (such as wear, fatigue, breakages etc.) to the authorised workshop
and to the crane owner;

In lifting operations personnel chiefly use the muscles of the arms and trunk and the bone structure,
in particular the spine.
The spinal column bears lifted weights by involving the discs which are crushed between the verte-
brae.

DANGER
To avoid damage, such as classic back problems and in serious cases the breaking
of the disc with consequences including invalidity, the spinal column when it is under
stress must be kept straight and not curved.

The correct technique for lifting a load from the ground is divided into three phases:
- squat down with your legs slightly apart;
- grasp the object to be lifted;
- straighten the trunk.
Make your leg muscles do the work and keep the load close to your body.

The crane has been designed and built for use in public places (e.g. squares, car parks, public roads
etc.), private places (courtyards of houses, blocks of flats etc.), outdoors (building sites, infrastruc-
tures such as industrial sheds, levels at a height, company courtyards etc.) and in covered areas
(e.g. shopping centre entries, sports centres, trade fairs, production sheds, hangars etc.). Necessary
authorisation for use must be requested.
Any use in particularly aggressive environments or in special or extreme conditions (e.g.
temperature), must be approved by EFFER and compels you to increase both maintenance and
checks on the whole structure.

Footrest surface
The ground on which the crane stabilizes has to be compact and not yielding.
If the ground is not sufficiently compact and resistant, provide a suitable surface to support stabilizer
foot plates by placing additional support plates to prevent the plates from going down into the
ground. See section “Placement and set-up” of this chapter.

90% at a temperature of 40° C.
With high relative humidity and a temperature close to 0° there is a danger that functional

buttons etc.). Check their correct functioning before transportation or use of the crane.

Radiation and magnetic fields

The crane’s electrical equipment can be sub-


ject to hazardous malfunctioning if exposed
to strong electromagnetic fields and/or
particle radiation (X-ray, gamma-ray etc.).
This depends on the emission strength and
on the distance from the crane.
You are advised to obtain prior information
from the competent bodies and centres
and, in the case of doubt, to operate at suit-
able distances. In general, for limited radio 00762074A
disturbances (non-ionised electromagnetic
fields) the electrical system is protected and
the crane will come to a halt.

It is forbidden to use the crane in an environment whose sound level exceeds the legal limit, unless
suitable ear protection devices are used.

It is forbidden to use the crane if the operator and the exposed people are involved by the amount of
harmful exhaust gases of the power engine, in addition to the values allowed by laws in force. This
depends on the position of the control station, on the work area, the type of power engine exhaust
gas. If necessary, evacuate/remove harmful gases with special conveyors which must be provided.

It is mandatory to accurately level the vehicle in horizontal plane, with the crane folded at a ma-

Pay special attention when levelling up with a joint and winch.


During operation, the vehicle should not exceed the maximum slope of ± 1° (air bubble tangent to
circle 1°) due to deformations. Especially with arms in vertical position, operate at very slow and

The wheels of the vehicle must remain on the ground


while maintaining a good adherence to ground.
Much of the weight of the truck and any load on the
truck must always discharge on the wheels; only a
minimal part of the total weight (truck + load) must
discharge on the stabilizer feet.
Observe these requirements taking into consideration
possible significant variations in the load on the truck
during work.

PROHIBITION
It is not allowed to discharge the truck wheels excessively and/or to detach them com-
pletely from the ground, as this will cause dangerous structural damage to the stabilizer
feet when lifting. (Any exceptions are listed in chapter “8 - Instructions for the user”.

With the vehicle stabilized and on level ground 80°
(Max. ± 0.3°), and with the crane empty, the
mechanical alignment of the arms and joint must
be checked in advance, reaching a maximum
inclination of the arms at about 80°, check the
alignment tolerance. This alignment tolerance
must be So < Somax, where Somax is the offset H
between the hook and the middle axis of the 2nd
arm (fig 4) which is equal to:

The operator must pay particular attention


when lifting with a winch. This type of lifting
leads to accentuation of lateral deformation/
warping.
The centre of gravity of the load to be lifted
must be approximately in line with the direction
of rope when empty (Fig 10).

In the moment when the load leaves the round,


this will move forward and sideways due to the
effect of elastic deformations, the magnitude of Sp max.

With the arms positioned vertically, pay attention to detecting excessive lateral skidding
because in such conditions, the resistance of the arms and the guide of the profiles

When non-folded transport position (fig. 4) is provided for, it is mandatory to check that:
1 - the position of the arms is such as not to exceed the maximum size allowed by regulations in
force;
2 - the longitudinal axis of the arms constitutes a resultant balanced load in relation to the vehicle/
truck axles;
3 - all movements of the crane, its main units and components and its accessories are firmly fixed
with suitable blocking devices on the platform or body. (in particular for crane rotation)

NB: The lock valves and brakes of the rotation unit of the crane have a block that is
sufficiently safe during transport.

Parking

CAUTION
Park the vehicle/means of transport so it is sheltered from atmospheric agents, taking
care to fold and lock the crane. When prolonged non-use is envisaged, grease the com-
ponents liberally. Lubricate/ protect the exposed section of the stem of the jacks.

Pay attention to the following hazards:


-If the crane is not in the folded transport position, with the motor/pump also deactivated, it could
cause possible descents and slow and uncontrolled movements of the arms due to normal
leakage of the hydraulic system. These slow uncontrolled movements can lead to the tipping
(see paragraph “Drops due to hydraulic leakage” in this chapter).

-If the crane is not in the folded transport position, but is parked with the arms in vertical configura-
tions, the risk of lightning interception probability is increased. Furthermore, in this configura-
tion, high forces due to strong wind can cause structural damage from tilting in relation to the
position of the stabilizers (e.g. trade exhibitions).

Note: For parking of the arms in vertical configurations, an ‘operations plan’ (see APPEN-
DIX) is required which is particularly important for cranes with a reach of more
than 25 m.

- in the case of parking with ambient temperatures below 0°C, the ice may render the operation
of different parts of the crane (sensors, clamps, moving parts, etc..) ineffective. Defrost such
parts in advance and restore the correct operation.

APPENDIX

Wind force

The wind force causes stress on the crane structure whatever its direction. The more insidious wind
directions are those that lead to lateral skidding, increasing the tipping moment but also causing
tilting movements against the arms when vertical (tilting backwards).
The factors that influence the strength of the wind acting on the crane and the load are the follow-
ing:
1 - Wind speed value
The permissible wind speeds are listed in chapter “2 - Safety regulations and warnings” and
repeated in detail in TAB A-TAB B.
2 - Dependence of the wind speed with height
The wind speed varies with height. In cases of average speed and gusts of wind, they are not
assessed at the height (H) of the load lifted but rather at a given height (Hv), it is necessary to use
conversion table TAB. B.
WARNING: Height variations lead to an increase of wind speed of up to 20% (Between zero
and 60 meters) with a relative increase of the forces due to the wind of over 50%.
3 - Value of the area downwind from the load and load shape.
The load diagrams are checked for the data segments of the design:
1) wind speed according to the TAB. A and B. (DIN 15018-3, EN 13000)
2) Area downwind from the load

CAUTION
If the approved conditions indicated are not strictly complied with, the crane can behave
in unexpected and very dangerous ways; it can compromise the structural strength
and stability. For this reason the planning instructions below must be observed.

Planning of lifting operations relating to the lifting with the


arms vertical (Ref. EN 13000-2012).
Planning of operations is particularly important for the crane with a lifting capacity exceeding
25 m and for lifting with arms vertical (especially from 45° to 80°) and must be performed by
qualified and experienced personnel (EN 13000-2012).

The following aspects must be considered:


1-prior assessment of environmental conditions (e.g. meteorological data, weather forecasts,
relevant environmental conditions)
2-evaluation of the velocity of the wind gust (gust in 3 sec) at maximum height H, which can be
reached by the arms of the crane. In the event of detecting this speed, it is performed at a
height of Hv <H refer to TAB. B.
For cranes with a lifting capacity greater than 25 m, we recommend using an instrument (anemom-
eter)
3-assessment of the correct positioning of the vehicle on a level surface and the alignment tol-
erance of the crane arms (see chap. 2). These aspects can increase the negative effects of
lateral skidding due to wind.
4-Evaluation of the load level to be lifted P(t) (t in tonnes) and its theoretical area downwind Ap
(m2) (in square meters). Perform the verification procedure of the previous chapter, see page
68. In case the P(t)/Ap(m2) ratio is <2, it is necessary to calculate the Cr coefficient of reduc-
tion of the wind speed. The reduced permissible speed is calculated by multiplying the speed
shown in TAB A and B by Cr<1 (see page. 68)
5 - evaluate the escape and cordoned off areas relating to the direction of the possible deforma-
tions in the event of structural damage/tipping

CAUTION
With the arms close to maximum verticality, in the case in which the unpredictability of
events leads to gusts of wind with a speed greater than that permitted and/or if involuntary
sudden movements of rotation occur, there is a dangerous possibility that the deformation
of the lateral skidding proceeds dangerously without stopping, causing simultaneous
twisting/spinning of the arms. In this case, in addition to the return extensions, perform
a sudden but gradual and controlled drop of the arms by a few degrees until the skidding
movement stops. Pay attention to this downward movement to avoid knocks, overloads
and losses of stability.

CAUTION
With the arms close to maximum verticality, in the case in which the unpredictability of
events leads to gusts of wind with a speed greater than that permitted and/or if involuntary
sudden movements of rotation occur, there is a dangerous possibility that the deformation
of the lateral skidding proceeds dangerously without stopping, causing simultaneous
twisting/spinning of the arms. In this case, in addition to the return extensions, perform
a sudden but gradual and controlled drop of the arms by a few degrees until the skidding
movement stops. Pay attention to this downward movement to avoid knocks, overloads

Planning of operations with the crane out of service


(parking)
If the crane is out of service, it must preferably be folded into the transport position.
If circumstances require a different position from the transport position, it is necessary:
- to check the rules and laws in force relating to the position of the out of service crane (permissible
heights, visual/light signals, etc.).
- to assess unintended movement of the crane due to leakage (see chapter “2-Safety regulations
and warnings.”)
-to perform a prior assessment of the environmental conditions (e.g. meteorological data, weather
conditions, relevant environmental conditions) for the period for which the crane is out of service.
The effects can be dangerous due to wind (risk of tipping and structural damage) and the collec-
tion of lightning
-evaluate the stability conditions.

-With regard to the risk of tipping and structural damage due to wind forces, especially with the arms
vertical (45°-80°), it is necessary to plan the operations/configurations. This plan must be performed
by qualified and experienced personnel (EN 13000-2012) and must be carried out in the same
way as that performed with the crane in service.
-With regard to the single structural resistance of the crane empty (with no load), the crane can with-
stand wind loads according to the “Beaufort 6th” scale with arms below 45 degrees and “Beaufort
5th” scale with arms above 45° (Table A).

CAUTION
We recommend positioning the out of service crane in a position other than the transport
position and/or with suspended loads. There is a danger of uncontrolled movements, due
to hydraulic leakage, which can lead among other things to tipping, structural damage of
the crane and any nearby objects. (Rotation, extraction, swinging., etc.) (see chapter “2
- Safety regulations and warnings.”)

The loader crane has been designed in accordance with EN 12999-2011 standard.
For the specific classification of project, refer to Chapter 3 “- Description and technical data”
The crane is designed for use in non-continuous service normally handling medium loads and only
occasionally maximum loads. In the case of heavier duty use the crane must undergo routine and
extraordinary maintenance at shorter intervals.

CAUTION
Lifting in continuous service and/or with frequent handling of maximum loads may
reduce the crane working life considerably.

The crane is typically installed on a commercial vehicle (including trailers) with a significant
transportation capacity. The loader cranes are designed to load and unload the vehicle as well as
for other tasks such as moving or positioning not hooked loads in all areas specified by the load
diagram and allowed by the type of installation.
Examples of possible applications (in accordance with the load and installation diagram):
- Lifting from the ground at different heights (e.g.: placing concrete on a roof);
- Building assembly (e.g.: placing beams and structures of a building);
- Handling of building materials on pallets from the truck to which the crane is fitted or from
another truck, or from the ground or other positions;

Work configuration means situations in which the
crane is operating and active or stopped only
for very brief periods. In such cases the general
conditions of the machine are as follows:

- stabilisers extended;
- stabiliser jacks extended and resting on the
ground;
- crane and vehicle doors and switchboards

…transport
Transport configuration means those situations in which the crane must be moved from one workplace
to another. As well as involving disconnection of the crane from all power sources, transportation must
not give rise to involuntary movements of any of the elements. In this case the general conditions of
the machine are as follows:
- vehicle with engine running;
- power circuits deactivated;
- telescopic elements of the arms fully retracted 00762149

- arms and articulations closed in the prescribed
position and locked on the appropriate stop;
- stabilisers completely retracted and locked in
position;
- stabiliser jacks fully retracted and locked in

- crane doors and switchboards (equipped with

CAUTION
For all other configurations (stopping on the road, parking, including long-stay etc.) the
machine must be in maximum safety conditions to avoid danger to those who approach
it. The crane must be closed in the prescribed position and every telescopic or sliding
element locked, and it must be protected (in the case of storage) and disconnected
from all sources of energy.

Work areas…
The performance, allowed in the various work areas, depends on the type of safety device, the type
of installation, from the angular position of the column, when handling the load, and from the position
of the stabilizers.
Typically there are four work areas (A, B, C and D) in which performance may vary.
Area A - Area in which the crane operates generally with downgraded performance.

Areas B - C - D - areas in which the crane can operate

For notes and symbols used in the load diagrams check the
following data sheets
The main load diagrams permitted (a 100% performance) are
applied to the lever protection or in the immediate vicinity
of the control stations. The complete loading diagrams are
shown in the following pages.
For maximum exploitation of crane potential the 1st and 2nd
arms must form the angle specified in the load diagrams.
(This position is shown by the alignment of two yellow
arrows, one on the column and the other on the 1st boom.
The load diagrams establish the operating limits. Informa-
tion in the diagram refers to the horizontal configuration
and the maximum trajectory performance configurations (load curves - only for 100% of
performance).
Each hook load shown in the diagram is the addition of the liftable payload and the weight of
lifting accessories (chains, ropes, etc..) and / or any lifting equipment (buckets, pallet mover,
etc..) directly secured to the crane. If the winch is fitted, the load value shown in the load
diagrams is already deducted from the weight of the counterweight/block/rope.

To lift the maximum loads shown in the basic machine diagram, no equipment must be attached
to the extremity of the crane.

In horizontal configuration the maximum permitted distance


may be evaluated by approximation, identifying the exten-
sions.

In horizontal configuration the load that may be lifted


between two successive outreaches will be of approx. an
intermediate value with regard to the loads relating to the max.
previous and subsequent outreach.
The operation of the automatic load limiting device does not max
allow exceeding the load curves shown in the graphs.
With crane equipped with the HSS device, which can be dis-
engaged, in order to achieve crane maximum performance in
vertical and in horizontal (with max. loads and max. outreach)
as per the diagram, it is necessary to disengage the HSS
device (HSS OFF) (see section “5 - Functional devices”).

Locking extensions by a pin for special lifting

For lifting heavy loads below the horizontal line it


may be necessary to lock the crane extensions by
a special pin.
See load diagram and technical data for correct
pin size. (See chap. “3 - Description and technical
features”).
Do not leave the load hanging below the horizontal
line for a long time. Remain in this configuration
(with locked extensions) as long as strictly
necessary.

CAUTION
To best exploit the crane’s potentialities the angle between the 1st and 2nd arms should
be as indicated in the capacity diagrams attached to the crane.
The arms can work aligned. However, this may cause premature stopping of the crane,
or the lowering of the 2nd arm.

CAUTION
The lifting capacities given in the basic crane diagram do not take into consideration
the weight of the pipe-holding device present in the case of optional accessories (jib,

GENERALITA’
Le gru idrauliche EFFER possono essere classificate come Loader Crane (gru caricatrici) - secondo la norma EN12999 -, cioè
solitamente applicate ad un veicolo (incluso semirimorchio) e sono progettate generalmente per il carico e scarico del veicolo;
possono essere installate anche in altre condizioni (installazioni fisse o navi).

L’installatore ha il compito di definire l’idoneo abbinamento della gru con il veicolo (o altro) ed è responsabile della corretta
progettazione/realizzazione di alcune parti/impianti necessarie per l’installazione della gru nonché del loro corretto montaggio a
regola d’arte. Sono di seguito riportati i punti fondamentali da analizzare per la corretta installazione, con riferimenti indicativi e non
impegnativi. Osservare comunque leggi e norme vigenti.
I calcoli necessari sottoriportati e la progettazione meccanica e impiantistica devono essere eseguiti da un tecnico competente.

Autocarro/veicolo idoneo, posizione della gru: calcolo/verifica pesi sugli assi.

nominale «PD» con stabilità garantita, definire gli altri carichi nominali «Pi» corrispondenti alle diverse posizioni di sbraccio (sfilo)

ISTRUZIONI PER LA MOVIMENTAZIONE


In figura 2, è rappresentato il foglio «movimentazione gru» che si trova applicato sulla gru al momento della sua uscita dallo
stabilimento EFFER; su di esso sono riportate le indicazioni sulla movimentazione ed il peso della gru in condizioni di spedizione
(non sono inclusi la carica olio ed eventuali componenti inclusi nella cassa accessori).
Durante il trasporto bloccare la gru al pianale del mezzo utilizzato e proteggerla dagli eventi atmosferici.

Sollevamento
Per il sollevamento della gru è prevista un’apposita staffa applicata sulla parte superiore del primo braccio, dov’è possibile
agganciarvi catene, o funi.
Il mezzo di sollevamento deve essere di capacità idonea al sollevamento della gru (peso e dimensioni).
Il personale addetto dovrà operare seguendo le norme di sicurezza del caso.
Non passare o sostare sotto la gru durante il suo sollevamento.

Movimentazione con muletto


Posizionare le forche del muletto come illustrato nella figura.
Se necessario fissare la gru al muletto mediante una catena e ruotare le forche leggermente verso la cabina per equilibrare il peso
della gru.
Movimentare verificando attentamente l’equilibrio della gru.

Movimentazione con carro ponte


Sollevare la gru come descritto al paragrafo «sollevamento» e posizionarla sull’autocarro.
Mantenendo in tensione la catena, verificare il corretto posizionamento e fissare la gru mediante le apposite staffe.
Attenzione: E’ assolutamente vietato distaccare la catena di sollevamento prima di aver fissato la gru all’autotelaio.

Posizionamento temporaneo o Stoccaggio


Depositare la gru in zone sicure da possibili danneggiamenti e riparata dagli agenti atmosferici.
Posizionare la gru su una base di appoggio in piano verificando la stabilità della stessa.

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
The EFFER hydraulic crane can be defined ‘Loader Crane’ (cranes for loading) - according to EN12999, which means machineries
usually combined with a vehicle (semi-trailer included) and generally planned for loading and unloading the vehicle; they may be
installed even in different conditions (pedestal installation or on vessel).

The installer’s task is to establish the proper coupling crane-vehicle (or anything else); he is responsible for the correct project/
execution of some parts/circuits necessary for the crane installation as well as for their duly mounting.
We report here below the main aspects of the proper installation along with some indicative suggestions which are not binding.
Please comply in any case with the regulations in force.
The calculations given below and the mechanical design and diagrams must be performed by a competent technician.

Truck/suitable vehicle, position of the crane: calculation/check for the weights on the axles.
primary stability calculation according to EN12999-2010.

Choice of the suitable supplementary stabilizers: fitness calculation of the supplementary stabilizers according to EN12999-2010
(fig.1a) (Supplier directions, if supplied by Effer, refer to the relevant table “DT00015-
Supplementary stabilizers” available in WWW.EFFER.COM (area reserved to
installers), where are indicated the minimum mounting distances from
the slewing centre of the crane of the supplementary stabilizers suitable for such
model).
Choice of the sub-frame (fig.1b): counter-chassis calculation, see EN12999-2010.

Choice of the counter-chassis connections: calculations according to the regulations in force CUNA NC034-05 and Manual
of the vehicle supplier/supplementary stabilizers supplier, calculations according
to norms and formulas of correct design (ex: EN13001).

Choice of the power take-off/pump: make Your calculation according to the maxi. oil displacement and the maxi.
pressure.

Choice of the hydraulic and electric circuits: see regulations in force.

ISTRUCTIONS FOR THE CRANE’S HANDLING


In figure N.2 we illustrate the sheet «crane’s handling» which is usually attached to the crane when the machine is
ready for leaving EFFER plants; we report on it all instructions for the handling and the weight of the crane during the
transport conditions (the oil charge and eventual parts inserted in the accessories case are not considered).
During the transport, fix the crane to the truck’s platform and protect it from atmospheric agents.

Lifting
For lifting the crane, there is on the machine a suitable bracket applied on the upper side of the main boom, where it is possible to
hook chains or ropes.
The lifting system must have the right capacity for lifting the crane from the point of view of the weight and the dimensions.

The personnel in charge must operate according to the proper security regulations.
Do not walk or stay under the crane during its lifting.

Crane’s handling by lift truck


Position the forks of the lift truck as illustrated in the figure.
If necessary, fix the crane to the lift truck with a chain and turn the forks a little while towards the cabin for balancing the weight of
the crane.
While moving the crane, check carefully its stability.

Crane’s handling by bridge crane


Lift the crane according to the instructions illustrated in the paragraph «Lifting» and place it on the truck.
Keeping the chain under tension, check the right position of the crane and fix it through the special brackets.
I.N.: It is absolutely forbidden to remove the lifting chain before having fixed the crane to the truck chassis.

Temporary positioning and stocking


Unload the crane in safe areas away from possible damages and protected from atmospheric agents.
Put the crane on a level surface and check its stability.

Istruzioni per la determinazione della lunghezza massima - L max - della prolunga piede
in presenza di snodo sferico.
Le prolunghe piede consegnate in dotazione devono essere opportunamente dimensionate in funzione dell'altezza
del telaio dell'autocarro (vedi Service Manual).
In presenza di snodo sferico NON E' POSSIBILE sfruttare tutta la lunghezza originale - L1 - della prolunga.
La lunghezza della prolunga deve essere ridotta come da istruzioni.
Per determinare la lunghezza - L max - sfruttabile occorre procedere nel modo seguente:
L max = L1 - 100 mm.
ATTENZIONE: se non si osservano le istruzioni soprariportate vi è il rischio di danneggiare il martinetto
piede, con possibile conseguente ribaltamento dell'autocarro.

Instructions to set the maximum length - L max - of foot extension in case of ball
joint fitted.
Foot extensions delivered must be appropriately sized, depending on the height of the truck chassis (see Service
Manual).
In a ball joint is fitted, all the original length of the extension - L1 - CAN NOT BE used.
The length of the extension should be reduced as per instructions.
To set the correct length available - L max - follow the instructions below:
L max = L1 - 100 mm.
WARNING: If these instructions are not followed, there is the risk of damaging the foot cylinder, with
possible, consequent overturn of the truck.
