SECTION A (40 MARKS)

7. At home, the father checks on the young baby who is sick after every 36
minutes while the mother checks on the same sick baby every after 24 minutes.
If they last checked on the baby together at 10:30 am, at what time will they
next check on their baby at the same time? (05 marks)

SECTION B (40 MARKS)

8. A school has a population of 720 learners.20% of the learners in the school are
male and the rest are female
Support:
25% of the female learners are day scholars
If all the male learners are in boarding section and 3 of them share a decker
And 10% of the females are expected to attend the party and the entry fee is
UGX 50,000

Task:
As a senior one learner, help the head teacher of that school to know,
a) The percentage of female learners in the school and how many more
females than males
b) The number of deckers that are needed to accommodate all the male
learners in the school
c) The amount of money which is expected from the female members who
are going to enjoy the party. (20 marks)

9. The head teacher of a certain school has just been informed that S1,S2 and S3
are to resume studies within one week to join S4,S5 and S6, who have been in
school for the last two months
He realizes the need of designing a new time table to cater for the learners.
His teacher in charge of the time table is away for the lower secondary
curriculum workshop at St Henrys College Kitovu.
Support:
All learners begin at 8:00 am, both sections have common time for the break
and the duration is 30 minutes In a bid to improve on SOPs the learners eat in
shifts with the lower section (S1,S2 and S3) having their lunch 40 minutes

earlier than the upper section (S4,S5 and S6) and the upper section has only 50
minutes of lunch break
After lunch, lessons for both sections resume at 2;00pm and classes for boths
sections end at the same time
Each lesson for lower section lasts 30 minutes and for the upper 40 minutes

Task:
As the head of math club in that school, the head teacher has requested you to
design a time table temperate, clearly indicating the number of lessons(periods)
