A. Pre- Activity

1. Establishing Connection
Present and sing the Rhyme.

Song: The Word Family


Tune: The Farmer in the Dell

2. Introducing the New Lesson


Today, we will study another short /e/ sound in CVC pattern, the -et
family.

3. Motivation

Say: I have here a mystery box. You are going to tell me what is inside
the box. I am going to give three clues.

Say: First Clue: It is an animal.


Second Clue: It can be a friend or a company.
Third Clue: Meg has it. It is a hen.
What is it?
(Let the learners guess and answer.)
It is a pet!

B. Modeling

Say: This is a pet (show the picture), pet has a short /e/ in CVC pattern.
Aside from pet, there are other words in -et family. Let us learn more
words!
Note: The teacher will explain that a pet can be a dog, a cat, etc.

Put the pictures with -et rime inside the mystery box.

Note to the teacher: Please provide/prepare the materials ahead of time.

Auditory

Group 2: Picture Bingo!


Directions: The teacher selects one picture tile and says its name out loud.
Once the learner finds that picture on their board, they encircle it until they
get three pictures correctly. The first learner who will have three pictures
on the board regardless of the position will win.
