Subject: World History
Content Standard:
 The learners demonstrate an understanding of the interaction between humans and their
environment that led to the development of ancient civilizations, which have shaped the
way of life of the present generation.
Performance Standard:
 The learners are able to develop a proposal project that promotes the conservation and
preservation of the legacies of ancient civilizations in the world for the present and future
generations.
Learning Competency:
 Analyze the physical characteristics of the world (AP8HSK-Id-4); and
 Examine the geographical condition of the Earth during the time of the early civilizations
(AP8HSK-le-4)
Objectives:
I can
 Describe orally the basic geography of the Earth;
 Characterize Earth’s place through the 5 themes of geography
 Understand the significance of the 5 themes of geography.
Learning Materials:
 TV screen/Projector, Laptop, Map, Cellphones (students), Firstlight App E-book
Lesson Proper
Introduction Show four pictures on the TV screen related to the topic.
o Guess the word that describes the four pictures in each group. Refer to the
given letters as hints of the correct term.
o Ask the students to identify those pictures, and choose one student to
recite their answer to the class.
o Based on the pictures shown, ask the students if they already have an idea
or perspective on their topic.
Instruction Analyze the physical characteristics of the world (AP8HSK-Id-4)
 Using PPT presentation:
o Have the students read in chorus the definition of geography in ancient
times.
o Make the students analyze what they read and give their own
understanding of the word “Geography”
o Ask the students what are the characteristic of physical geography and
recite them to the class.

Examine the geographical condition of the Earth during the time of the early
civilizations (AP8HSK-le-4)
 Using PPT presentation:
o Identify the five themes of geography
o Explain briefly the characteristics of the five themes of geography
and provide examples.
o Ask the students, what are the significance of studying the five
themes of geography.
Integration Activities

Group Activity

Data Retrieval Chart


o Let the students choose their own partner in making the Data
Retrieval Chart activity.
o Accomplish the activity by identifying the five (5) themes of
geography listed in the chart.
o Students will do this in ten (10) minutes and place it on a one
whole sheet of paper.

Activity

Map Reading
o Practice activity for location and place
o Ask the students to answer the given questions about the
regions and countries in Asia by locating them on the map.
Answers will be written on the board.

Quiz

Kahoot! Game
o Students will be asked to participate in a Kahoot! Game with
eight questions. This will allow the teacher to know how much
the students know about the scope of geography as a
discipline.

Performance Task

Online Reflection-Writing

o Access the article at the link in the First Light app, "World’s
Most Populated Countries."
o Afterwards, answer the question flashed on the TV screen. "If
you are living in one of these cities, what can you do to
decrease the pollution and improve the environment?".
o Students will be asked to share their answers in the class as
part of their recitation.
o Below is the rubric for the performance task:

o Organization of ideas- 15%


o Quality of information- 10%
o Spelling and grammar- 5%
