Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
I used my swamps Reaktion book as the main subject of my white paper. I needed to reach a large
word count so I needed lots of topics to add. I used the prompt of building a water cleansing facility
in the everglades to help clean it. I planned many sections including, research on the plant, why is it
needed, and the upsides of adding the cleaning station.

First Draft (for peer editing)

Writing the first draft was harder than I thought. I focused so much on meeting the word count that I
ignored the substance part of the white paper. I got super picky on my word choice and kept getting
stuck and frustrated. But I got a lot of it done. I went in order of the topics and got most of the
important parts down.

Second Draft (for your packet)

I did not submit anything for the second draft because I did not think it was worth being graded. I

was unable to meet the word count. ☹

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For the final draft I completed the white paper for better or for worse. I didn’t focus on the word
count because I was just adding fluff and felt as if it didn’t add to the paper. I only focused on what
was important to get the main point of the assignment done.
It might not seem like much, because I only added the conclusion paragraph, but I do feel an
improvement. I’ve been putting myself down so much that I’ve ignored the actual progress that I
have made. I felt much more confident in my writing and the words flowed easier onto the page.

I plan on writing fiction novels to practice my writing skills and express creativity.
