Task 2

Some people think that the news media nowadays have influenced people’s
lives in negative ways. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

To begin with, several related reasons can be discussed which are associated with
this view. First one is that paparazzi invade the privacy of famous people just to
break news about them or to get a recent picture of them. Therefore, it can create
some problems for their personal life due to which they have to face difficulties to
survive. Second one is that media outlets sometimes broadcast some violent and
vulgar content which may affect not only children but also adolescents and adults.
This is because, juveniles have fragile mind they usually try to copy what they
watch on social media. However, technology has provided us with options to block
these channels that broadcast inappropriate content.

On the other hand, despite the reasons mentioned above, I also think that news
media is beneficial for the individuals lives for many reasons. Firstly, media helps
out in developing awareness among people regarding different issues. For instance,
during covid-19 pandemic media has played an invaluable role in raising
consciousness related to spread of diseases. The rising toll of deaths, number of
infected people and campaigns related to this disease and its vulnerability were
presented before us through media. If media wasn’t there to broadcast live all these
things and help us, we couldn’t be able to fight with that infectious disease.
Secondly, news media entertains us with different live broadcasts. As, various
news channels telecast live shows as well as competitive sports to entertain the
public. To exemplify, The Cricket World Cup and the FIFA World are the two
most enjoyed TV shows in the earth. News media and different sports media assist
in capturing the complete live event.
