PROJECT No. 1: Working of a NGO

Dear Students,

Have you ever thought that there is a difference between ‘a person helping a

handicapped person to cross the road’ and ‘a doctor treating handicapped patients for

fees? The first example an activity is carried out to serve a fellow human being while in

latter it is carried to earn an income. Hence, we can conclude that an activity performed

with the purpose of obtaining economic

benefits in the form of incomes is called

economic activity and an activity which is

carried without the purpose of obtaining

economic gains is called non-economic

activity.

❖ In this context prepare a project which includes the following:


a) Explain the terms – Economic Activity and Non-Economic Activity.
b) Visit a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and gather the following details:
a. The name of the NGO, the field of its operations ( how it functions) and
scope, its location ( does it have a PAN India presence), the people
involved in the management of the NGO.
b. Is it a profit seeking organization? What is the source of income for the
NGO? Does it face any challenges while gathering funds?
c. Do all the people who work for the NGO work for an income or are these
people volunteers for the NGO? Explain the three categories in which an
individual’s work for income can be classified.
d. Suggest means by which the NGO can increase its outreach.

PROJECT No. 2: Co-operative Society

Dear Students,

There are different types of


business organizations, one such
form is of Co-operative Society.
Co-operative Societies are
formed with the aim of helping
their members. This type of
business organisation is formed
mainly by weaker sections of the
society to prevent any type of
exploitation from the economically stronger sections of the society.

❖ Your task will be to research on Co-operative Societies in India and prepare a project

which includes:

a) Meaning and features of Co-operative Society.

b) Select the Housing Co-operative Society you reside in or any one in your vicinity

and research on the functioning of that Housing Co-operative Society. The

research should include the following details:

a. Name of the society, location, the strength of the members, the strength of

the committee members, the names of the office bearers and their duties.

b. State the Acts/Rules/Regulations which a society is required to follow.

c) Based on your research and observation, explain which features of a Co-operative

Society are reflected in a Housing Co-operative Society.

d) Give your opinion on whether such societies are beneficial for the social structure

and helpful for maintaining the integrity of the communities.

PROJECT No. 3: Actions speak louder than words.

Dear Students,

Non-verbal communication
occurs without using any oral or
written word.

Instead of written or oral words,


it relies on various non-verbal
cues like physical movements,
tasks, colors, signs, symbols,
signals charts, etc. to express
feelings, attitudes, or
information.

Although no word is used in non-verbal communication, it can effectively communicate


many human feelings more accurately than verbal methods of communication.
Common types of nonverbal communication are eye contact, facial expressions, gestures,
posture and body orientation, body language, touch, para-linguistic, silence.

❖ Your task is watch silent motion picture (e.g., Charlie Chaplin movies with no
dialogues) and write a review of the same. Your review should be your original
work and must include the following details:
a) Explain the meaning of communication, the terms – verbal and non-verbal
communication. Give the importance of communication in personal and
professional life of an individual.
b) The name of the feature film, the production house, year of release, country of
origin, duration of the film (should not be less than 45 minutes), actors in
leading roles and the names of their characters. Mention the platform on which
you have viewed it
c) Make a note of all non-verbal and auditory cues which are used in the film and
the message they convey. You may use photographs of the non-verbal cues
as seen in the film to help your description.
d) Explain how the body language and facial expression changed according to
the scenes and helped the audience understand the situational details of the
scene.
e) Give your opinion on the benefits of silent films with respect to language and
cultural barriers. Can modern films with dialogues also have the same effect?

PROJECT No. 4: Natural Resources – Depletion v/s Conservation

There are several types of


resource depletion, the most known
being: Aquifer depletion, deforestation,
mining for fossil fuels and minerals,
pollution, or contamination of resources,
slash-and-burn agricultural practices, soil
erosion, and overconsumption, excessive
or unnecessary use of resources.
The depletion of natural
resources occurs when resources are
consumed at a faster rate than that of replacement. Athak foundation was basically

❖ You task must cover the following points:
a) Briefly explain preventive measures to avoid depletion of Natural Resources
b) Study any one organisation like mentioned above who are working for Natural
Resource Conservation. The details should include –

• Registered or not
• Working
• Contact details
• Website name
• The contributions done by the organisation for managing the Natural
Resources
c) Explain what contributions you can make to avoid depletion of Natural Resources
on individual capability.
d) Design a pamphlet depicting ‘Promotion for Conservation of Natural Resources’.

Title Page: It should consist of the title of the Project and subject name. On
2 bottom right corner mention Name, Standard, Division, Roll Number and
School Name.ONE TITLE PAGE FOR INDIVIDUAL PROJECT.

Acknowledgements: Express your gratitude towards all the individuals who

have assisted for completion of the project.

Index Page: It should contain the topics name and reflect the page numbers

appropriately.

Introduction: It should consist of brief description of the Project. The person


5 reading should get a rough idea about the information included. Minimum
200 words.

Body of the Report: It should include the statistical and analysis data. Any
relevant information such as graphical representation, Statistical data,

illustrations, etc. can be showcased on the left page of the project. Minimum
700 words.

My Learning Experience: You should share your experiences, for example:


7 what you gain through this research and survey? How will you apply the data
collected in your studies? Hindrances if any and how you overcome it.

References: It includes the list of books referred while doing the project.
8 Websites visited. Write it in the chronological order beginning with list of
books followed with weblinks.
