THE PUBLIC MINISTRY OF JESUS
The Baptism of Jesus (Mt. 3:13-17)
-THIS IS THE INAUGURATION (beginning
of the mission of Jesus as the suffering
servant) AS A SUFFERING SERVANT OF
GOD IN THE WORLD
-service that is to sacrifice His life for us
-Service that the Lord jesus have done for the
humanity. Service towards other people.
-Jesus came to be baptized by him (John the
baptist)
-Age of reason (7 and above) in the past you
were only baptized. Able to understand the
faith.
-Now the contrast is infant were already
baptized
-Infants are now children of God, not deprive
the infants. Infant Baptism
-Realizing the reason why we were baptized:
-To be integrated, do the initiation(baptism)
-To give a name for the child and social
activity
-To be rightfully called children of God and
resemble the Father (heavenly one)
•John the Baptist
- precursor of Jesus, to prepare the way for
His coming

of time, use voice to proclaim, proclaim justice

conversion because lots of people saw it

BAPTISM
1. Opening of heavens
once shattered because of the sin of
man/closed the heaven. as Jesus being
baptized, heavens opens and once again
offered to humanity through Jesus Christ.
2. The holy spirit descends like a dove
-do the mission and will of God. Holy spirit
that descends is still present in our life today
3. Heavenly voice->This is my beloved
Son with whom I am well pleased
-My beloved son, sense of election as a
suffering servant of God

-not a word of elation but rather a divine
elction that introduces to the world who Jesus

There is glory in suffering as we see Christ

THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

-Jesus indeed is like human like us who also
face temptation and did not give in
-It is also a challenge to His divine sonship
-temptation towards sonship To God, His
mission as son of God
-a difficult mission to be a Son of God
-a sin if you give in to temptation, an invitation
only and it’s up to us if we accept it or not
-the world is full of temptation that’s why we
commit sin
-we committed mistake and say “ako ay tao
lamang”, “makes me human is my
imperfection/sin” but sin is not our ultimate
choice, that is why there is temptation and a
challenge for us to truly embark to our identity
as child of God
-many find temptation an easy way to do
things, copy,paste and pass
-Jesus stayed for 40 days and 40 nights to
pray for His life and mission
-Jesus took time to be in the desert to pray
and He found is temptation

3 TEMPTATIONS
1.If you are the Son of God, command these

-bread of life, sustainance in the trust we had
for God, in the midst of nothingness it is a call
to trust in the Lord in the providence of God,
find relationship to Lord who provides and not
on magical things

-life is about relationship not material things
-There will be no satisfaction on man, you

2. If you are the Son of God, throw yourself

the existence, who God is in our life, if this is
allowing us to find the place of God in us

3 LEARNINGS FROM MARY
•The need to respond to the call of time
•To manifest the glory of God

Manifestation- to make Himself known but

Faith- very important in speaking who god is
to us, a response of who God is in pur

Verse 1-2: ON THE THIRD DAY
1. signify as the third day of the occasion
2. Third day is the resurrection of Jesus when

Verse 3: THEY HAVE NO WINE
1. “Woman how does your concern affect me?
My hour has not yet come”
-Hour- means the hour in His death in the
realization ‘on the third day’
-He told this because they are just visitors
-The request and the answer means No!
-No because it is not yet time
-All prayers are answered but it is not
happened on the way we want it to be

taking the empty stone water jars to be filled
with water so Jesus will be able to perform
miracle

good wines first but even until this time you

Baptism:
-A Call to Share in Christ's Life
-God calls each of us by name.
He does this specially through the sacred sign

life. The celebration of the Eucharist makes
Christ present to us.
Receiving him at the Holy Communion unites

healing to our brokenness. Our reception of
these Sacraments draws us closer to an
intimate friendship with Jesus.

LOOB
-Because Jesus has kagandahang loob
-Because Jesus went around doing good, he
can be regarded as a person with magandang
kalooban. Persons with magandang kalooban
are naturally attractive to Filipinos.
Kagandahang loob is not something we could
easily and casually attribute to a person we
don't know so well.
-It takes time to be able to determine whether
or not the person has kagandahang loob. In
fact it takes a lifetime.
Christ's kagandahang loob attracts us to him
and inspires us to follow him. "Sundin ang
loob mo..." in the Lord's Prayer becomes alive
in our life. We strive to align our way of
thinking and behaving with the values,
attitudes and teachings of Jesus, that by so
doing we may acquire his kagandahang loob.
Deep inside us we long to have such
magandang kalooban, which only Christ can
offer and sustain us through our sacramental
life.

1. strive to know Christ through the Gospel
-reading the Bible, knowing the values that the
Bible teaching us
2. receive him frequently through the
Sacraments
-we often go to mass and attend the worships
-avail sacraments of penance and
reconciliation
3. acquire Christ's attitudes and disposition
and make them alive in all aspects of our life.
-so when people see us they see Christ in us
