Ramadhan
Ramadhan is a special holy month for Muslims around the world. In this month, In this month, Muslims fast
from dawn to dusk for a month. In addition to fasting, Muslims also multiply other sunnah worship such as
tarawih prayers, recitations of the Quran, getting closer to Allah SWT.
Fasting is important during Ramadan as it allows Muslims to devote themselves to their faith and come closer
to Allah SWT. Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is a part of the pillars of Islam. It is the third pillar of Islam.
Ramadan is not only holding hunger and thirst but also teaches us to hold our lust and feel how to be poor.
The month of Ramadan is getting more advanced every year
The month of Ramadan comes approximately 10 days earlier than the previous year. This is because Ramadan
does not follow the Gregorian calendar but the Hijri calendar. Islam has its own calendar in counting days,
including in determining the coming of Ramadan.
The celebration of the month of Ramadan is the origin of Islam
Lailatul Qodar falls before Ramadan and celebrates the Night of the Qur'an which was revealed to the Prophet
Muhammad. Muslims praying on the night of Lailatul Qodar is better than a thousand months of worship.
Worship is strengthened
During Ramadan, prayer and worship are prioritized, as can be seen from the more frequent prayers called
Tarawih prayers, the frequent reciting and reading of the Qur'an in the mosque. Don't forget to say the desired
prayer because it is reported that Allah SWT is easier to answer prayers that are said during Ramadan fasting.
Not all Muslims are required to fast
Although fasting in Ramadan is obligatory, there are some people who are not allowed, for example parents
who are no longer able to manage, people who are sick and can't sleep, people who are traveling long
distances, or pregnant and lactating women, provided they pay at a later time. Women who are menstruating
are also not allowed to fast but must pay for fasting that has not been done on another day. Children who have
not reached puberty are also still allowed to fast without having to pay the fasting debt.
Fasting is not just holding thirst and hunger
Fasting is defined as self-restraint, including refraining from lust, emotions and doing bad deeds. Fasting is
also a way to cleanse the soul from bad effects, and as an experience is to draw closer to Allah SWT. The
month of Ramadan is a means to improve oneself, learn to be more accepting, sincere and forgive mistakes.
Zakat Fitrah
Zakat fitrah is zakat that must be paid for a muzakki who already has the ability to pay it. Zakat fitrah is an
obligatory zakat that must be issued once a year, namely during the month of Ramadan before Eid al-Fitr. In
principle, zakat fitrah must be issued before the Eid prayer is held. This is what distinguishes zakat fitrah from
other zakat.
