Sioux Valley Elementary – 2nd Grade

Spring 2024

While student teaching at Sioux Valley Elementary under the guidance of Mrs. Amy

Christopherson, I found that I have grown immensely as an educator. Alongside Mrs.

Christopherson, I have been presented with many diverse opportunities that have helped me to

develop into an aware, versatile, and passionate educator. While in Mrs. Christopherson’s

classroom, I was able to teach and plan lessons across math, phonics, reading, social studies, and

science curriculums. While teaching, I was also able to tend to the requirements of 21 students,

each carrying different backgrounds and educational needs.

The support that Mrs. Christopherson showed me was influential in furthering my

educational growth. I have developed many teaching techniques and effective classroom

management skills that have shown me what a conducive and safe learning environment looks

like. While student teaching at Sioux Valley, I have also learned the importance of colleague

communication as well as parent communication. We as educators have to work as a team and

want the best for our students. My student teaching experience has played a major role in the

educator that I am and will continue to be. I am eager to take on my own classroom and know

that I have a support system for me to rely back on.
