Q1. What did Tom think while he lay in bed?

Ans: While he lay in bed, Tom was thinking that if only he were ill, he wouldnt have to go to
school.

Q2: What was Toms first plan to skip school?

Ans: Tom had cut his toe the previous week. He had not applied medicine on it. He planned to
skip school using his hurt toe as the excuse.

Q3: What did Aunt Polly do when she examined Toms toe?

Ans: When Aunt Polly examined Toms toe, she started laughing and crying at the same time.

Polly tied one end of the tread to Toms tooth and the other end of the bedpost. Suddenly, she
swayed the burning coal near Toms face. Tom pulled his head and the tooth came out Thus, the
problem of the painful tooth was solve.

Ans: Yes, the story ended on a happy note for Tom because everyone at his school appreciated
him for being brave when he showed them his tooth.
