We would like to welcome you to Algona Middle School. We wish all the athletes the best of luck! It is our
hope that all participants excel in all of their events and both coaches and athletes will display the best qualities
of sportsmanship during the meet. Here is information as it pertains to the meet. Please read carefully and if
there are any questions please feel free to call Andy Jacobson, Activities Director at 319-215-5581.
Boys Teams: Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Emmetsburg Forest City, Humboldt, North Union, Webster City
Girls Teams: Algona, Bishop Garrigan, CGD, Emmetsburg, Humboldt, Saint Edmont, Webster City
The meet is scheduled to start at 4:15 and will follow this format
4:15 - 7th and 8th grade boys field events, Girls Running Events switching after the girls DMED
4:55 (Approximate) - 7th and 8th grade Girls Field events - Boys Running events
After the boys DMED, the races will follow with Girls (slowest to fastest heats 7th followed by 8th)
followed by boys with the same format.
**In some races we may combine 7th and 8th grade heats but will not have boys and girls in the same
heat.
Divisions: We will run a 7th grade and an 8th grade division both boys and girls. In all running events, 7th
grade will run first, followed by 8th grade. If you wish to enter a combined relay team, they should be entered
in the 8th grade division. The clerk may elect to run 7th and 8th grade divisions together if a low number of
entries dictates. It is likely that distance races (800 and 1500) will be run in one group.
Entries: Entries will be limited to 4 individual entries per event (including field events) and 2 relay teams from
each school. Individual participation is limited by IHSAA/IGHSAU policy - individuals may participate in a
maximum of 4 events, 3 of them running. Coaches are asked to report to the press box immediately
upon arrival to write in any changes in events - Or EMAIL me throughout the day. After 10AM I will email
out the meet program as soon as I get everything seeded. If you notice a mistake or need to make a scratch
please email me the change as that will help things start right at 4:15pm.
**We will be utilizing Bound for Meet Entries - Entries will open at 9am on Wednesday 5/1/24 and our entry
deadline is 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3.
Order/Scoring: The standard order of events will be followed. Scoring will be 10-8-6-4-2-1 for all events. Only
the top two individuals and top one relay finisher for each team in each event will be allowed to score points
and earn ribbons
Field events: Field events will begin at 4:15. We will start the boys high jump at 4’ 2” in 7th grade and 4’ 6” in
