1. Introduction OF INTERNSHIP REPORT
1.1background of the study

Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited popular as "MBL", founded in 1998, stands out as the
pioneer among regional commercial banks in Nepal's Western region. The bank embarked on
its banking journey in the naturally picturesque city of Pokhara, Nepal in the year 2000 AD.
The Bank facilitates it's customers' need by delivering the best of services in combination
with the latest state of the art technologies and prudent international practices.The bank
provides modern banking facilities such as Any Branch Banking, Internet Banking, Mobile
Banking, Safe Deposit Locker facilities, Utility Bill payment (Telephone & Mobile), ATM
(VISA Debit Cards) to its valued customers. Besides these, the Bank is providing 365 Days
Banking and Evening Counter services to the customers through many of its offices.

The Bank has been promoted by highly renowned Non-Residential Nepalese, prominent
businessman and industrialists with a vision and dedication to provide the best financial
products and services in the most efficient and professional manner.

The internship program is designed by Faculty of Management, Lincoln University for the
partial fulfillment of the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The program
Bachelor of Business Administration under the faculty of management of Lincoln University
is a four-year semester system program that provides knowledge in the management field.
BBA is the advanced management course with the objective of preparing students to take up
middle level managerial positions in business sector along with development of
entrepreneurial skills. So, at our 8th semester, we were assigned to prepare an internship
report by working in any financial institution or corporate house to get familiar with the real
working scenario.

This internship report covered an overview of general banking procedures of one of the
branches of machhapuchchre bank located at birtamode jhapa per the course requirement and
in order to fulfill the partial requirement of BBA program every student must go through
internship program. This report is basically focused on the services provided, tasks and other
general activities, which are done at the Customer Service Department

1.2 Objectives

The major goal of the internship program is to gain a behind-the-scenes look at a firm, an
industry, and a certain job. The general objective of an internship program in BBA is
primarily designed to gain practical knowledge and experience in the banking sector. This
enables the students to support them as grounded career persons who know the real-life
working situations and had already felt the pressure of the job place environment.

The specific objectives of this intern report are as follows

i. To understand how the banking sector’s CSD functions.

1.3 Methodology
Methodology refers to the description of the procedure followed while collecting information
needed for report generation. It is presented into a sequence of organization selection,
placement, duration and activities performed.

1.3.1 Organization selection

Choosing the right organization for the internship proved to be quite a challenging endeavor.
Opting for a reputable organization is essential for paving the way for a successful future
career. The BBA program primarily emphasizes the analysis of banking and financial
institutions. Among the various banks and financial organizations available, i selected
machhapuchchre bank limited located at birtamode l due to its distinctive advantages in this
context

1.3.2 Placement

The internship period is of twelve weeks starting from 2080/08/19 to 2080/11/18 (12weeks).
Within this time frame, Customer Service Department is chosen for the internee to work. It is
under the supervision of Operation In-charge Mrs. Nirija thapa and Mr hemanta parajuli .
These twelve weeks of internship is going to be really noticeably knowledgeable and fruitful
to gain at least brief understanding of the modern banking business.

Duration

The duration of internship period was 3 months as per Nepal Business College affiliated to
Lincoln University College, Malaysia that an eight-semester student should complete to
acquire six credit hours. Intern has to be in the bank from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As per the
requirement, the internship was carried out from 4 th of December 2023- 3rd march 2024 in the
Customer service department of machhapuchchre bank birtamode.

•Validity of the report fully depends on the information provided by the concerned
authorities.
•Since the intern spent a whole internship period in CSD, activities performed
under other departments of the bank could not be analyzed.

• Due to lack of time and resources constraints detail study and deep research could not
be done.

• The study covers only few tools and techniques.


Sources of data

In order to prepare the report of internship program, both the primary and secondary
sources are used for the information.

Primary source. Primary source of data are known as the data which are collected
through observation and direct contact. They are not derived from any other sources. The
primary data are the information that is collected during the internship period by the
observation and involvement. Most of the primary data are collected through the following
sources

i. Day to day operation with staff with MBL bank.


ii. Direct dealings with the customer in the bank.
iii. Personal involvements in the activities of bank.

Secondary data. The secondary data is one which has already been collected by a
source other than present investigator. Secondary data include both raw data and published
summaries. Documentary secondary data include written material such as; books, journal
articles, newspapers as well as administrative and public records. Intern collected these types
of data through following ways:

i. Annual report of MBL.

ii. Brochures of MBL

iii. Website Of MBL.
