AWARDS-2022
 On the eve of 73rd Republic Day, the
Government of India announced the
Padma Awards 2022. The list comprises
4 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma
Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri Awards.
 On the eve of 73rd Republic Day, the
Government of India announced the
Padma Awards 2022. This year,
President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the conferment of 128 Padma Awards,
including 2 duo cases.
 CDS General Bipin Rawat who died in a tragic helicopter crash and former Uttar
Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh have been posthumously honoured with Padma Vibhushan.
 Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institue, Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella of Bharat
Biotech, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai have been
named for the Padma Bhushan honours.
 Singer Sonu Nigam and Olympic gold-medallist Neeraj Chopra have been honoured
with a Padma Shri.
 The below list comprises 4 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma
Shri Awards. Of these, 34 of the awardees are women, 10 awardees from the category
of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 13 Posthumous awardees.

About Padma Awards
 The Padma Awards are among the highest civilian awards of India and are conferred
in three categories-- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
 The awards are conferred in various fields such as art, social work, public affairs,
science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports,
civil service, etc.
 Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma
Bhushan for distinguished service of a high order, and Padma Shri for distinguished
service in any field.
 The Padma Awards are announced each year on the occasion of India's Republic Day
and are conferred every year by the President of India at ceremonial functions held at
Rashtrapati Bhawan between March and April.

NOBEL PRIZES-2021
 The Nobel Prize Committee has announced the laureates of the Nobel Prize 2021 and
the sveriges Riks Bank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfread Nobel from
Oct 4/11/2021.
 The Nobel Prize is an International Award administrered by the Nobel foundation in
stocknalm.
 Sweden, and its foundation was laid by alfred Nobel swedish inventor and
entrepreneur, in 1895.
 Six Nobel Prizes are awarded each year.
 One in each of the following categories:

6. Physiology (or) Medicine
 Economic sciences is not considered a 'Nobel Prize' but a Nobel Memorial prize.

prize 2021 in physiology (or) medicine jointly.

 The Royal Swedish Academy of sciences on oct 5, 2021 decided to award the Nobel
Prize 2021 in physics.
 For groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of complex systems.
 With one half jointly to SYUKUROMANABE (JAPAN) and KLAUS HASSELMANN
(GERMANY) for the physical modelling of Earths climate.
 Quantifying variability and reliably predicting grobal warming and the other half to
GIORGIO PARISI (ITALY) for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations
in physical systems from atomic to planetory scales.
Chemistry:
 The Royal Swedish Academy of science on october 6, 2021 decided to award the Nobel Prize
2020 in chemistry to BENJAMAN LIST (GERMANY) and DAVIND WC MAC - MILLAN (UK)
 For the development of asymmetric organocatalysis.
 Organocatalysis uses small organic molecules that are generally both environ mentally
and inexpensive to produce.
Literature:
 The swedilsh Academy on oct 7, 2021 decided to award the Nobel Prize in Literature
to the Tanzanian Novelist ABDUL RAZAK GURNAH for this uncompromising and
compassionate penetration of the effects of colenialisn and the forte of the refugee in
the gulf between cultures and continents.
 He is best known for this 1994 Novel paradise set in colonical East Africa during world
war 1, which has shortlisted for the Booker Prizer for Piction.
Peace:
 The Norwegious Nobel committee on oct 8, 2021 decided to award the 2021 Nobel
peace prize to MARIA RESSA AND DMITRY MURATOR for their efforts to safeguard
freedom of expression, which is a pre condition for democracy and lasting peace.
 Dmitry Murator (Russia) has for decades definded freedom of speech in Russia under
increasingly challenging conditions.
ECONOMICS
 DAVID CARD (CANADA), JOSHUA D. ANGRIST (USA) AND GUIDOW IMBENS
(The netherlands) are declared as the winners of sveriges Riksbank prize in economnic
sciences in memory of alfred Nobel 2021 on oct 11.

ACADEMY AWARDS (OSCARS)-2021


 Chole zhar won the oscar for best director for the film nomadland
at the 93rd annual academy awards on April 25, 2021.

 IPL is a professional Twenty 20 cricket league plauyed in India every year representing

 Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the Vivo Indian Premier League

TOKYO OLYMPICS 2020
 The Tokyo Olympics 2020 Sommer Olympics, also knwon as the Games of the 32nd
Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Tokyo, Japan from July 23
to August 8, 2021.
 The 2020 Summer Olympics were Originally planned to take place from July 24 to
August 9, 2020, however, the vent was postponed to 2021 in March 2020 due to the
Covid - 19. The official mascot of the 2020 Summer Olympics was Miraitowa, Medals
Tally.
 There was a total of 339 Medal events in the Tokya Olympics 2020. Four new sports
have been introduced in the Tokyo Olympics. These are Karate, Skateboarding, surfing
and sport climbing.

TOKYO PARALYMPICS - 2020


 The 2020 Summer paralympics, officially the games of the 16th edition and branded
as Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games is an international muti - sport event governed by
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The games were held in Tokyo, (Japan)
from August 24 to september 5, 2021.
 The mascot for Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020 was SOMEITY. The name SOMEITY
comes from, 'Someiyoshine' which is a popular type of cheery blossom and the phrase
'So mighty'
