SRM Assignment- IGI airport security check congestion problem

1) Problem definition:

When the passenger arrives at the airport, after the check, the passenger goes for a security
check while the luggage goes for the check. Passenger gets checked in 30secs, but the
luggage takes 60 secs time. While boarding in thus, each passenger has to wait for 30
seconds.
Total footfall at IGI airport is 8,09,80,176 approx. So this delay will cause 28,118 days of loss
of time.

2) Research questions
a) What are the key bottlenecks or congestion points in the current layout and organization
of the security check process?
 b) How does the staffing level at the security checkpoints impact the efficiency of the
security check process?
c) What successful strategies have been implemented at other airports to alleviate security
check congestion, and can similar approaches be applied at IGI Airport?

3) Solution Approach:

a) We will see how the delay is affecting the airport activities.

b) We will research to find if there are faster and easier ways to solve the issue, like adding
more staff or diverting the passengers.

c) We will research to find if some new technologies have been introduced to get through
luggage security checks quickly.

d) We will try to find technologies that will help to improve security check like ai
recognition at the door etc.
