1-GMDSS

(i) Emergency source of energy, capacity and location.

(ii) Reserve source of energy, capacity and location.

2-Antennas
(i) INMARSAT, GPS, AIS and VHF

(ii) Check sitting, ground and if protected against being touch accidentally

3-Reserve source of Energy


(i) Check if can operate the basic or duplicate equipment for one hour or six hours and
specify.
(ii) Specify the type, check sitting, installation and location.
(iii) Specify voltage and gravity.
(iv) With battery off charge check the battery voltage and current.
(v) Check that battery charger is of an automatic type.

4-VHF Transceivers
(i) Check make ,model and if it is duplicate
(ii) Check operation on channel 6,13 and 16
(iii) Check that equipment operates from the main and reserve source of energy.
(iv) Check the correct Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI).
5-MF/HF Radiotelephone
(i) Make, model and if it is duplicate
(ii) Check that the equipment operate from the main, emergency (if provided) and
reserve source of energy.

6-INMARSAT Ship Earth Station(s)


(i) Make, model and if it is duplicate.
(ii) Specify type (B,C or F77)
(iii) Check that equipment operate from the main, emergency (if provided) and reserve
source of energy.
(iv) Check for correct operation by inspection of recent hard copy of test call by Telex.

7-NAVTEX
(i) Make and model

8-EPIRB
(i) Make and model
(ii) Carried out the self-test routine
(iii) Check for EPIRB ID and other information (call sign of ship) clearly marked on the
outside of the equipment.
(iv) Check the EPIRB ID number if it is same as that marked on the EPIRB.
(v) Battery expiry date.
(vi) Hydrostatic release expiry date.
(vii) Type of secondary means of alerting.

8-TWO-WAY VHF radiotelephone apparatus for survival craft.


(i) Make and Model
(ii) Check for operation on channel 16 with other fixed or portable VHF.
(iii) Check battery charging arrangement and expiry date.
(iv) Check for Call sign clearly marked with permanent marker on the VHF

9-RADAR TRANSPONDERS
(i) Make and Model
(ii) Satisfactory functional test using on board 9GHz radars.
(iii) Check for clear markings with ship’s call sign.
(iv) Battery expiry date.
10-RADAR(S)
(i) Make and Model.
(ii) Check for satisfactory functioning of equipment
(iii) Check Radar(s) connected to emergency generator.

11-ARPA
(i) Make and Model
(ii) Check for satisfactory functioning of equipment

12-AIS
(i) Make and Model
(ii) Check MMSI and IMO number, Radio call sign, name of ship, type of ship, ship length
and beam and location of GPS antenna.
(iii) Check AIS response to “virtual vessels”
(iv) Confirm reception of own signal from other ships.

13-SSAS
(i) Activation of two point signal
(ii) Satisfactory functional test.
(iii) Recent test SSAS report.
