Botanical Moodboard
This is a school assignment. The prompt for this project is creating a
Mood board using your own photos, drawings, assets... following a
specific theme, preferably something you are interested in.

Mood board in my opinion is a form of abstract art, and the prompt is

to test my ability to create a design that does not follow a structure yet
still make sense. As a result, instead of following the traditional photo
collage approach, I decided to follow a scrapbook-like approach, by
layering texture (paper, text...), colors, lines and photos.

La Naissance de L’art
This is a school assignment, with the topic: Choose a historical art
movement and create a virtual open house poster with that art style.

The style I approach was Art Nouveau - an international style of art, that
had became a mainstream between 1890 and 1910. To keep the
authentic feel of the art style, I hand-drawn the typography and the
illustration with watercolor, as watercolor is the most similar material to
lithography.

The message this poster portrays is:

“Centennial University is a garden that nurtures passions and turns
them into beautiful finished products. Those achievements can be
sweet fruits, fragrant flowers, or pioneers spreading new definitions of
art like waves crashing on every corner of the land.”

Mother Space
This is a personal work. I create this work back in 2022 as a
submission for a mini art club. The prompt was “Space” and each
participant will make an artwork on how they interpret the term.

In my interpretation, space is the biggest evolution recorder as

“it” can see every changes happening in the galaxy. As a result, I
create a drawing of “Space” as a massive celestial being merging
itself with the solar systems, planets and stars. Its massive being
allow it to shape the galaxy, change days and night and hold
records of every stars’ birth and death.

Viet Bac
This is a personal work. I create this work back in 2023 with the prompt:
Illustrate a section of a literature work.

This is an illustration of the third section of the poem "Viet Bac" by To Huu, a
famous Vietnamese poet. This work illustrates the third section of the poem
"Viet Bac", which focuses on depicting the beauty of nature in the mountain
regions.

The reason I chose this work because the unique way of describing seasons.
Winter - the season that is often associated with gloomy color is depicted
with the brightest colors, red (for banana flowers)and green (for banana
trees). Summer is described with the yellow color palette often associated
with fall. Autumn is described with the color silver, black and yellow, which is
the highlight colors of the moon.

Children of Dragons
This is a personal work. I create this work to celebrate the new year
2024, which in Asian culture is the Year of the Dragons.

Dragons in the Eastern and Western culture are vastly different, from
their forms, colors and even personality. Eastern dragons, having
been influenced by movies, are seen as enemies or allies of royalty.
While in Asia, dragons are mythical creatures that are worshipped
like gods.

As I want to celebrate both culture and their differences, I decided

to draw each culture interpretation of “dragons”

Editorial Design
This personal project is inspired by Vogue magazine. I was learning
how to arrange and balance paragraphs and letters surrounding an
image to make the visual still clear and visible.

During the time, I was extremely fascinated and influenced by editorial

and magazine design trends from other countries. In Vietnam, editorial
design related jobs weren't appreciated or in high demand, which is
why Vietnamese magazine design is still very outdated. Creating this
magazine work is also my first experience with using Adobe InDesign,

The Hamster Hall
This work is a model of an animal closure based on a well-known
structure of your choice. And for this project, I choose to recreate
London's City Hall as a hamster enclosure.

This model is made out of cardboard, foam board, aluminum bendable

wires and plastic sheets from binders. This enclosure has two
separated floors, with the second floor having two extra platforms.
The two section can be taken apart for easier cleaning, and the second
floor has a functional gate that allows pet owners to open the gate to
change/clean the enclosure or simply want to hold their pet.
