'Rising dengue cases in Davao City need task force activation'

The City Health Office of Davao City has urged barangay officials to activate the
Anti-Dengue Task Force following the rising dengue cases in the city.
From January to April 18, 2024, eight people of the around 1,140 dengue cases
recorded in the city have died. Most of the fatalities came from Barangays Bunawan
and Talomo Proper.
Data from the CHO showed that in 2023, 52 of the 6,269 people who have contracted
dengue died. The number was higher than the 1,481 cases and 21 deaths logged in
2022.
CHO said only 32 of the 182 barangays in the city have activated the task force.
Among the roles of the task force is to address the increasing dengue cases.
“Ang role sa task force dako kaayo og (tabang) kay sila ang…unang-una maghuna huna

said.
CHO has started coordinating with other concerned agencies to strengthen and
institutionalize the ordinance on Davao City Mosquito-Borne Disease Protection and
Control Program.
Under the ordinance, residents and business owners will be penalized if they found
to be neglecting the measures to combat dengue.
“Ongoing ang process sa pakighinabi namo sa mga agencies’ legal office. Sayang ang
ordinansa kung dili ma totally implement mawala ang essence ana nga ordinance,”
Babante added.

Warm weather, rain showers expected across the PH

The Easterlies — or the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean — will bring warm
weather and rain showers across the country, weather service PAGASA said in a
Monday afternoon forecast.
“Nandyan ang epekto ng Easterlies o ng hangin galing sa Pacific Ocean na nagdadala
ng mainit na panahon at mahihinang pag-ulan sa ilang parte ng ating bansa, lalo na
eastern section,” said PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja.
(The easterlies will bring warm weather with scattered rain showers across the
country, specifically the eastern section.)
Estreja added that the trough of a low-pressure area and the high-pressure area
ridge were no longer affecting the country.
Furthermore, the low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine Area of

Devastation in Gaza as Israel wages war on Hamas

The US State Department’s annual report on human rights raises sharp concerns about
the conflict between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, citing allegations of war crimes.
The report noted that “human rights groups reported extensive and in many cases
unprecedented conflict-related abuses and alleged the commission of war crimes by
Israel, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and other Palestinian militant
groups.”
Those abuses include the killings, torture, abductions and sexual violence carried
out by Hamas, PIJ and others on October 7, according to the report, which covers
the year 2023.
They also include “reports of systemic torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading
treatment or punishment of Palestinian detainees in prison facilities after October
7” and the forced disappearance of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza.
While the report does not represent the US government’s own conclusions, Secretary
of State Antony Blinken said in remarks Monday that “we have processes within the
department that are looking at that incidents that have been raised.”
“Those processes are ongoing,” he said. “It's important that we take the time to do
our best to get the facts, to get the information, to do the analysis. It's very
challenging to do this in real time.”

to activate the link again, or copy the link to the Safari browser and open it.”
Once mobile users follow the link, they will be required to provide personal
