are identified as learners with reading difficulties to improve their reading and comprehension skills. This
will be done through maximizing reading remediation with the used of inter-active audio-visual lessons
once a week with time schedule to follow and following strictly the health standard protocols from the
IATF. The audio-video lessons includes educational songs from which enrichment exercises in improving
vocabulary skills and comprehension difficulties are being addressed. Inter-active noting details from
given passages will keep learners’ full engagement of the activity with fun while learning with peers. This
will be facilitated by the school head herself. On scheduled dates, she will conduct the limited face to face
remediation activities with parents’ consent. This activity will last for 6 months. The project cost is
estimated to 6,160.00.

III. PROJECT BACKGROUND

The conduct of reading assessments during the pandemic had shown that the learners have common
problem on reading and comprehension skills which resulted to poor academic performance. Indeed, the
pandemic has brought great havoc and challenges to the lives of people in all public and private sectors
worldwide and DepEd had not been excluded. It had transformed strategically the seasoned Teaching-
Learning techniques into innovative platforms in implementing the different Learning Delivery Modalities of
Department of Education’s quest for Basic Education- School Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) amidst the
crisis. Having all schools closed and turned homes into learning centers has made education a struggle to
learners, parents and even to teachers.
In its deep commitment and goal of providing quality education, the proponent is propelled to look
for the best possibility in crafting an innovation that would respond to the learning needs of Omjon
Elementary School Learners amidst the crisis. To best respond to the schools’ teaching-learning issues
and concerns ,the conduct of SAERI is done which will follow a systematic mechanism as such health
and safety protocols be strictly observed at all times. This innovative intervention will be used by
learners on School-based days and had to come to the learning room once per week during the
remediation time and with the parents/guardians’ permission/consent.

Purpose-driven, the proponent would like to implement the project entitled “PROJECT SAERI” Self-
made Assessment and Enhanced Reading Intervention.
